    Default The Gods Themselves

    @Enigma
    @Lu321
    @SaltyIrishman

    Character Sheet
Name: Simple. Remember that mortals are not supposed to know the true names of gods, as their true names are only for other gods.
Titles: What do the mortals call you? Titles should reflect your personality.
Personality: How does your god view the world and its inhabitants?
Appearance: Every god has a true form, powerful enough to fry a mortal to dust, and a false appearance for normal interaction. You can shapeshift, but there must be a consistent tell such as golden eyes or red coloration.
Sphere: One element of the world that encompasses your abilities. Creation, for example.
Domains: You can have up to five Domains, or subspheres. These are related to your Sphere, such as fire for the Light Sphere.
Religion: Who worships you? Explain their temples, dogma and leaders. Do they directly pray to you, or does a priest maintain their connection? The more followers you have, the more Mana you can accumulate.
Flaw: Even gods are flawed. Pick one from the list below. I’ll explain them once you choose.
    Corrupted
    Chipped Soul
    Ruined Form
    Glamor Failure
    Power Leak
    Hated
    Little Known
    Crippled
    Avatar Bound
    Titan Blooded
    Mana:
You start with 15 Mana. You gain it by accumulating worshippers, and spend it to bend reality. It takes 100 points to preform a major action (an act of monumental power), typically along the lines of obliterating a nation or reshaping the planet itself. Once per round, you can properly manifest and directly act (the nature of the action determining the Mana cost). You can freely communicate with your worshippers.

    Avatars:
Gods are not allowed to unleash full power or fully manifest upon the world, save in certain moments (once per round). In compensation, they can create Avatars. These are natural conduits of power. At first, an Avatar is barely powerful enough to match a Lesser Mage. As the god pours power through them over the years, however, they grow in might until nothing can harm them save another Avatar. You can only have one Avatar at a time, and if killed, your Avatar drains Mana Points from you.

    Demigods:
These are the the half-mortal offspring of the gods. They can inherit up to three abilities related to your Sphere, and can undergo Apotheosis into a Lesser God. You can have up to five. If you want to have another, just mention that you have a new Demigod (only one per round). Let’s keep this PG-13.

    Lesser Gods:
A Lesser God is a member of your court, a minor god whose powers align with yours. They require you to sustain them, or they will fade into shapeless spirits. They have one Domain that corresponds to your powers in some way. You can have up to three at first, although you can make a new Lesser God from one of your Demigods. Lesser Gods can act in the world, and frequently preform duties for their cosmic masters.

    Character Death:
There are two ways to kill another god.
The first is to attack them in the Void outside of the universe. This is a cataclysmic duel that triggers supernovae and rearranges constellations. The second is to attempt to exterminate their worshippers.
If you manage to kill another god, you gain their Sphere and Domains, as well as their Mana Points.

    Titans:
The primordial monsters, godlike beings that are the ancestors of the gods. They wander the earth, draining and destroying mortal nations like cattle. A Titan is nigh-indestructible, and if your Avatar kills one, you gain enormous numbers of Mana Points.

    Here you are. Also, if you want to tag somebody, put a ; after their name. As in @DarkSovereign;

    Name: Kioccha

Titles: Seamaster, Stormmaker, Shellback, and Shipeater

Personality: Kioccha's personality reflects the sea. Sometimes he is benevolent, cool waves on sandy beaches and strong winds for good sailing. Other times, he is tempestuous, sea spray crashing on razor-sharp rocks and hurricanes swallowing ships whole. He can be appeased or bargained with, but nothing ever comes free. He is a firm believer in an eye for an eye, and he always takes his dues. He enjoys sharing tales and comparing stories, especially if there's scars to go with them. He also comes across as crude and a little barbaric, as he cares very little for manners. His language is foul and he always speaks his mind, especially if he gets to tell someone they're being stupid. He's also very stubborn and refuses to give up. His memory is frighteningly sharp and he holds grudges for quite a while.

Although he may seem like a sinister god, he is also a free one. His ship is filled with sailors that never want for food or drink, sailors that spend their days in laugh and merriment. His ship is a well-disciplined one, but a heaven for those that want freedom. He is known to sing and dance as well as tell jokes that inspire raucous laughter and stories that make you feel as though you are there.

Appearance: Kioccha resembles a large, humanoid turtle. Dark green scales cover his body, accentuated by his many tattoos. His barnacle-encrusted shell is incredibly hard and heavy, making attacks against him futile. His legs resemble logs with claws. His arms are muscular and end in long-clawed hands. His neck is also extremely long, but he hides most of it in his shell. His left eye is covered by an eyepatch, while his right is bright yellow and ever-watchful. His clothes are battered, torn, and green from algae, but he was never a fancy person. He carries two falchions in scabbards on his back.

If he wants to appear less monstrous to others, he assumes the form of a ship's captain. Tall and broad-shouldered, well-muscled, and tanned from life in the sun, his human form has red hair, a thick beard, and the same tattoos as his turtle form. This form's clothes are better, but still not the best. This form also has his two swords and his eyepatch.

    Sphere: The Sea

Domains: Sailors/Pirates, Storms, Ocean Life, and the Oceans

Religion: Kioccha is worshipped by sailors, pirates, and coastal towns alike. Anyone can pray to Kioccha, but individual prayers are rarely answered. Anyone who has spent a significant amount of time at sea is more likely to receive an answer than a greenhorn sailor. Captains are in charge of making offerings to Kioccha. These generally consist of either weaponry, part of a plunder, or an animal/part of the catch, if they're fishermen. Not making an offering to Kioccha is almost certain suicide. If the Captain is unavailable, the duty falls to the first mate, then second mate, then so on and so forth.

There are very few clerics of Kioccha. To become one, you must spend years at sea, proving yourself to be fully capable of the job. You must not only give good enough offerings, but at least half of the plunder/catch consistently. Even then, Kioccha might never send you signs.

Pirates have it slightly easier as worshippers of Kioccha than more legal sailors. Kioccha represents the danger, beauty, and inherent freedom of the sea. Pirates hit every single one of those. They also represent his values of loyalty and comradeship. If you're a pirate and you offer to him, he's already got his eye on you.

    Flaw: Titan Blooded

    Mana: 15

Avatars: Kioccha's avatar is an elf pirate named Galrandir. Galrandir is a copper-skinned elf with short red hair. Galrandir has striking features, instantly captivating. He is relatively tall for an elf but still as thin as any other. Although he looks wispy, he's still a sailor and built for the job. Galrandir carries a fiddle, seemingly his only possession. He plays very well and could have been a bard if he weren't a pirate.

Demigods: Kioccha has only two demigods, a man named Fionn and a girl named Alanna. Fionn is a human sailor with the ability to calm stormy seas. He is paid well and regularly is taken along as an extra precaution by merchant ships. He also is supernaturally good at fishing. Alanna is only 14 but dreams of sailing the seas. She has much finer control over the sea, able to bend seawater to her will. Additionally, she can breathe underwater and create minor storms. No hurricanes like her dad, but it's not a coincidence that her schoolhouse has been struck by lightning multiple times.

Lesser Gods: Kioccha has three Lesser Gods serving him. Chorr, a shark god, Daneigh, an Octopus goddess, and Aeina, an Albatross goddess. They are the highest-ranking on his ship besides him, in that order. When he doesn't require them immediately, he sends them out to find stories and artifacts that he can show off to guests.

    Name: Javaneh

Titles: Lifebringer, Mistress of the Field

Personality: Javaneh is a rather calm goddess, seeing the world and everything in it as gift. She is very forgiving towards humans, but other gods and goddesses seem to get less of that forgiveness. She has a knack for different forms of art, and if she gets bored enough, she is known to aid in the creation of crop circles and other strange events that happen on the farm. She has a very good relationship with animals.

While she firmly believes in second chances, if you manage to get her angry, you better watch your back. She is known to punish whole towns if even one person disrespects her. If she is feeling merciful, though, she can always just come up to your doorstep and vaporize you, or even better, cause you to die in a horrible accident. That being said, this sweet goddess certainly has a dark side and should be feared.

Appearance: She likes to appear as a young woman, having a small frame, golden eyes, and dark hair. She usually wears simple dresses, specificly to avoid being noticed, which barely works.

Another one of her favorite forms is a black wolf-dog with the same golden eyes.

    Sphere: Farming

Domains: Plants, rains, domestic animals, farmers.

Religion: Practically all people worship her, as she provides the food on everyone's tables, but the amount of worship varies. The most loyal of her worshipers are farmers, followed closely by those of small villages scattered along the plains. She doesn't require much sacrifice. Just a small portion of each crop at harvest time.

Although she occasionally answers prayers from the followers she is particularly attached to, most people have to go through her priests and priestess. Her priests are usually farmers who have caught her attention. Although she does have male priests, she prefers her female priestesses, even occasionally sending visions to those who are the closest to her.

    Flaw: Chipped Soul

Avatars: Her avatar is a human farmer named Lily. Lily has brown hair, tan skin, and brown eyes. She often is followed around by her loyal dog, Nelly.

    Demigods: None

    Lesser Gods: None.

    Character Sheet

    Name: Xeusone (Sían)
Titles: Mother of Wisdom, the all-seeing eye.
    Personality: Scholarly, knowledge hungry.
Appearance: Every god has a true form, powerful enough to fry a mortal to dust, and a false appearance for normal interaction. You can shapeshift, but there must be a consistent tell such as golden eyes or red coloration.
    Sphere: Knowledge
Domains: Art, Literature, Magic, Medicine, Science
Religion: Celebrated by architects, engineers, doctors, mages, teachers, sages, astronomers, navigators, philosophers, alchemists, writers, accountants and those who thirst for knowledge.

You can find her temples in large cities, usually consisting of one grand altar and five smaller ones dedicated to the domains. Typically there are books arranged on the shelves behind the altars, each chained to a rod to prevent their theft. One merely joins the lines for one of the five smaller altars and present your question.

If the question can be immediately answered, it is done so.

If the question cannot, it is written on paper and a runner presents it to the priest or priestess at the main altar.

Shrines may send a message to the nearest temple or monastery. If they cannot answer the question, the applicant is given a token, a promissory note that their question will be answered.

The altar of medicine is unique in that a bench is set to one side (typically to the right) so that applicants can be examined as they lay there. The books are under the altar, still chained, while jars of various herbs and medicines are placed in the shelves behind the altar

In smaller towns, there may be a shrine with a single altar - and a bench, typically on the right, with a herb garden.

There are also the Seekers, acolytes wearing green robes and bearing a tall staff, often decorated with various beads, yarn, and feathers, who wander the world and sharing their knowledge. They check in with the small shrines and temples, sometimes carrying messages and redeeming tokens. They also share news in their travels, allowing neighboring villages to hear the events going on around them.

Each applicant is asked to provide an offering - typically coin, but promises of goods can also be accepted. Those who have neither are sometimes asked to perform some small tasks. For those of desperate need, this may include food and a night's stay at the Penitent Lodge.

The one rule, however, is that whatever question is asked of you, you must answer it completely to the best of your ability and truthfully. Those who fail to do so, can find themselves forever excommunicated.

Typically, one can find a roosting house for ravens at temples and shrines. It is said that if you whisper a question to a raven, it will carry your question to Xeusone's ear.

    Flaw: Crippled
    Mana: 15
    Avatars: none at present

    Demigods:

Tatsu, god of drinking who loves to entertain Xuesone with outrageous stories. He is barely a foot tall, bald with blue skin - the result of which he claims was a lost drunken wager (nor is he willing to change back, as he would lose another wager and has some concerns over what form he'd be ask to take next). He is able to teleport anywhere, but has the additional skill of summoning alcohol to him at any time (he can also use this defensively by teleporting the alcohol into his attackers). He is the guardian of the Chimaera, so chosen by Xeusone as the last one who would try to unleash it.

    The Chimaera

Head of a lion, body of a goat, and its tail is a snake - however, the true description of it is wrong - they are infact powerful clay golems who transform into a giant lion, goat, and snake. Created from three young women who were tortured and sacrificed by priests, then their ashes mixed with clay to form their signature bodies and many enchantments to bind their souls to these new vessels to forge
into a new weapon they would use against their enemies.

In their moment of creation, all their pain and rage erupted, and the island kingdom that created them burned and sunk beneath the waves, at a cost of several thousand lives.
Xeusone claimed them, saying they were an abuse of knowledge that had to be safeguarded. She sealed away their memories and appointed Tatsu as their guardian, to his horror.

Usia, the Lion - a dark-skinned slave girl offered instead of the intended victim.
Krys, the Goat - a blond-haired pale woman, seems a bit ditzy.
Vici, the Snake - A dark-haired woman with tanned skin. In her snake form, her head is the size of her former body, with poisoned fangs and a body that extend for 50 feet.

Their porcelain bodies are seemingly impervious to damage, heat, or cold, and are incredibly strong. Like Tetsu, they can teleport.

    (they may qualify as titans)

    Lesser Gods:

Sister Raven - While appearing to be a larger than average raven. she can transform herself into a woman of indeterminate age, wearing charcoal gray robes with ankle-length black hair. To defend herself, she can summon up to a hundred ravens, while her fingers turn into talons that can cut through iron. Legend says she was an injured young raven who was tended to by Xeusone, and she flies over the world to share with the goddess the things she sees and hears in her travels.

    Brother Monkey -
    Spoiler: legend

Usually appearing as a dark skinned bearded man who is surprisingly athletic, he likes to play small pranks on people, which has given him the reputation of a trickster. Those who accept his antics in good humor are often rewarded, while those who shake their fists and curse at him will quickly regret their actions. He can summon a cloud from the sky to carry him anywhere in the world, and his pockets are legendary for holding any number of remarkable things he "found" in his travels. His magic includes the ability to shrink objects down for easy carrying.

Auntie Sphynx - the keeper of Xeusone's library, able to teleport anywhere in the world. While terrifying in her sphynx aspect, can appear as a blonde-haired woman of incredible strength (and pointy teeth).

Looks like you've got an awesome roleplay started! If you would like to advertise for more members, here are some ways to do so!

First off, there's the Roleplay of the Week. This is displayed on the website's home page as well as on the side bar of the forum. If you think it might help then we implore you to do so! We are always looking for new RP's to advertise. (No, really. We are. Always.) If you would like a little bit more information, or even an example, you can view that here.

One of the requirements for a RP of the Week submission is that you have a banner. If you're not artistically inclined, however, do not fear! We have several amazing artists on the site who will make one for you. Simply post here.

Next, you can post in this thread and the staff will display your role-play in their signatures.

Also feel free to post in the Roleplay Directory. This is a thread that anyone can view at any time to see roleplays that are currently seeking and accepting members.

Gods are for players to play? This is foreign to when I was involved in these RP games. The referee running it (DM) would be the one answering for what gods there were in the campaigns. It was not necessarily open to players introducing others. So this is changed? I am aware still there can be many things changed over time. But this would be a really big one.

This is just a different sort of game, that's all. One that just didn't take off as expected.

Thanks Enigma for answering, I understand. I still look for where players are that like the fantasy games I liked to be active in.
