Name: Sobekhotep
Age: 25
Gender(M or F): M
Appearance: Indicative of his divine ancestry, Sobekhotep is much larger than the average Egyptian. 6 foot and 4 inches tall and weighing nearly 230 pounds, with broad shoulders, lean musculature, and powerful legs, he has the perfect swimmer’s build from many hours in the Nile. His bronze skin is decorated with many scars across his forearms and chest.
His face has severe features, and his golden brown eyes can laugh merrily or burn with rage. His hair is kept in a mane of dreadlocks capped with golden rings. He rarely wears a shirt or shoes, instead wearing only his shendyt, a set of greaves and bracers, and a golden necklace.
Race: Human
Demigod, Fallen Hero, or Follower: Demigod
Lineage: Sobek
Divine Skills and Abilities:
Avatar of the Crocodile God: Although he is a mighty warrior in his own right, Sobekhotep has the ability to manifest a spectral avatar that resembles his father. 12 feet tall, transparent gold and green, crocodile-headed, and only mostly-solid, Sobekhotep wears his Avatar like a suit of armor. The Avatar has enhanced speed, strength, and stamina. In his Avatar, his weapons also grow to fit his massive form. Alternatively, instead of an Avatar, he can polymorph into a large, completely solid crocodile.
Master of the Nile: Born of the Nile, the same as his father, Sobekhotep has a modicum of control over water. He is able to manipulate water in a very primitive way, using it to summon waves to sink boats, create undercurrents to drag away enemies, or pull him along quick as a crocodile. He can only manipulate water, not other liquids, and he has more power over fresh water than salt water. While in fresh water, his wounds will heal slowly and spending an hour fully submerged in water will feel like a full night’s rest.
Friend to Crocodiles: Sobek is the god of crocodiles, and Sobekhotep is a master of them. He can communicate easily with crocodiles, crocodiles will not attack him unless under the control of another god, and crocodiles are inclined to help him and his allies. However, crocodiles are a harsh species and will take any chance they can to attack his allies if Sobekhotep is not present or incapacitated in any way.
Normal/Racial Skills and Abilities:
Natural Warrior: Sobekhotep is a prodigy of battle. His hands seem to know weapons like he’s been using them for years. He has a near-supernatural sense of impending danger, and his reflexes make him seem like he has eyes in the back of his head. When armed with his khopesh, he is a deadly whirlwind of blade and gold.
Master Raftsman: Many years on the Nile has given Sobekhotep plenty of experience with boats. He is a capable captain of Egyptian-style rafts and a skilled sailor. Other styles of boat or ship are not as familiar, but boats are similar across the world. He is definitely very useful to have on a ship, regardless of make.
Athlete: Sobekhotep keeps a strict regimen of exercise that keeps him fit and ready for battle. Every morning he goes through this schedule, making sure he is in top performance. When faced with physical challenges, he can perform at a level high above most others. In fact, he finds them fun. Especially swimming. The powerful Nile trained him early on to swim hard, fast, and long.
Acolyte of Sobek: Not really a skill, but he can always find a place to stay in temples to Sobek, as well as his allies if they work. His presence as a child of Sobek is thought to be a blessing from the crocodile god.
Weapons:
- Khopesh
- Bronze Dagger
Artifact to be retrieved and reason: Sobek is often depicted carrying an ankh and a Was sceptre. However, Sobek can’t carry a Was sceptre if it has been stolen. Sobek’s symbol of power has been stolen away in the night. After causing a flood or two and raging through a few very unfortunate villages, Sobek sent a vision to his children through their dreams. Sobekhotep is determined to get the sceptre before his siblings to rub in their faces if nothing else. “Ha ha, dad likes me more!”
Armor:
Sobekhotep wears very little actual armor, relying on his shield and khopesh to protect him. However, his Avatar provides the same protections as a set of armor.
Equipment:
The warriors of Egypt travel light, and Sobekhotep is no different. He keeps one sack of essentials, light enough to run and fight with. In it is a bedroll, a mess kit, a weapon maintenance kit, and a flint and steel in a small wooden box. He also carries a khopesh, a bronze dagger attached to his belt, and a shield.
Personality: Sobek has a dual nature as a mighty warrior and destructive force of chaos. In some incarnations, he is a dark god of bloodshed that must be appeased and a valiant protector of the vulnerable and pharaoh alike. Sobekhotep shares his father’s duality. On some days, he can be chaotic and aggressive, itching for bloodshed, and on others he can be a force of good. Regardless of violent or valiant, he cares deeply about how he is seen. He exudes a personality of courage and bravery, and will never turn down a challenge. He’s never lost in the past and is not about to start now. He has a strong will, and dislikes being disagreed with.
Likes: Swimming, exercise in general, showing off, flaunting his prowess in battle, crocodiles, and the authoritative respect he is normally given
Dislikes: Being too far from water, being proven wrong, being beaten, mind games, sandstorms, and hippopotamus
Background:
Sobekhotep was born and raised in Shedyet, living on the banks of one of the tributaries of the great Nile. As a child, he lived in one of the temples of Sobek, receiving many of the same luxuries of the tame crocodiles kept there. He was 12 when his father first appeared to him. He explained a great many things and gave Sobekhotep a khopesh. After that, he spent many hours a day training with his blade until it was more body part than tool. At 13, he slew his first monster in defense of the temple. His father sent him a vision in his sleep congratulating Sobekhotep on his valiant battle. For the years after, he became known as a mighty warrior. His prowess with the khopesh became a thing of legend. At 20, he left the temple and joined the navy.
When his ship was ambushed, and all hope seemed lost, he struck out with one final act of crocodilian rage and assumed his Avatar’s form for the first time. With his newfound strength, he swept through the enemy forces like paper. After this battle, he earned the moniker Sese, or “The Rampager”. For many battles after, the sight of the crocodile-headed warrior rising from the depths would cause ships to break formation and soldiers to jump overboard, anything to avoid the wrath of Sobek’s Pride. While in the navy, he also learned of his control over water. He used these powers in conjunction with another easily, sinking ships and tearing enemy soldiers to pieces.
However, his naval career would be cut short when his father sent him a vision. The crocodile god needed his children to return his Was sceptre to its rightful place in his hands. Sobekhotep agreed immediately, intent on showing up his siblings and making his father proud. Just another victory for the mighty warrior.
Other:
The raft slid over the dark waters of the Nile. Cicadas buzzed and hippopotamus bellowed in the distance. On the banks, crocodiles slipped into the water as the boats passed. He bid one a greeting and received a hungry growl in response. The raft turned the bend in the river as sailors pushed off of the riverbed with long poles. Too late, Sobekhotep looked up. Thunk. A metal bolt imbedded itself in the boat, attached to another boat by a long rope. Two more sailed through the air, latching onto the raft. Behind them, another boat boxed them in the middle.
Sobekhotep snarled with rage. Who did these pirates think they were? He simmered with rage as he leapt into the swirling Nile. Crocodiles scattered below him, then turned to watch what he would do. His arms and legs thickened and lengthened. His chest grew like a massive barrel, and his head elongated into a gigantic set of crocodile jaws. Roaring with anger, he exploded from the water, khopesh swinging. A wave of water surged over the side of the first boat as his massive blade slammed into the deck. Pirates screamed as they were washed overboard into the waiting mouths of hungry crocodiles. With a gigantic green hand, he punched a hole in the hull of the ship. Immediately it began to sink. He turned his gaze on the other ship, which was rapidly fleeing. The river parted underneath it, then slammed back together, trapping it at the bottom of the river as crocodiles converged.
