    Default The Recovery (reboot)

When the Covid hit, The Recover RP I was running fell apart.
I wanted to bring it back and see what we could do.

The borrows from two different stories and games. The Fallout Series, and The Hunter Trilogy by Mercedes Lackey.

The world was turned on it's head in many cataclysmic events and monsters were released into the world.
Magic was discovered, and new races appeared.
Earth, no longer how we remember, is now home to more than we know.

Ruins of great cities still dot the land, forests with monsters we have only heard in song or story come to life.

Now, after years of fighting over what remains, humanity is making a stand.
While the great city of Andora is the new capital in America, with settlements ranging far and wide, the new government as seen fit to put together a new military with a branch they call the Recover Force.
Prejudices between races may remain, but they live and work together to recover what was lost in the great cataclysm.
As Bandits roam the new roads and tramlines, The Recovery Force scouts out new territory and begins it for resettlement.

    there are several factions
Those associated with The Recovery Force, Bandits and Raiders, Clans and Tribes, and Survivors.
we are all trying to survive in this world, the difference is in how we do it.

I wouldn't mind coming back in, but I have a different character or two in mind.

Q's - On most tables of organization, the Q were listed as quartermasters, the Army's supply branch. In actuality, they were a secret research and development branch, with extensive bunkers. When disaster struck, they retreated underground, using hidden assets to link to military satellites (those that survived) and a dedicated network. Of the twelve facilities known to exist, seven remain.

Chimaera - genetically modified creatures created by the Q Lab 7 facility to suppliment their defensive forces with beings with better senses and reflexes. However, many among the Q still see chimaera as 'animals', trainable but less than human. Not related to various mutations that exist in the wild.

really starts making me think of fallout 4 with the Institute and the Synths.
Seems like it might be a very interesting idea.

but the name of Q makes me think of Star Trek Q from Next Generation and Voyager

So, natural and unnatural mutant variations. I could see prejudice towards raves that are not human, more against the bestial ones, but the Chimaeras would seem more monstrous in my opinion. some may escape/desert the Q and join another faction, but I'm not sure of much fair treatment unless they manage to hide their more monstrous features and look even just like a normal mutation like Gerana from the last one.

now, I will remind, there are some levels of magic in this one. so this will get a bit more interesting.

During WW2, to combat convoy attacks, the allies would sometimes add in a "Q ship" - while it looked like another cargo ship, crates on deck would suddenly open up to reveal anti-aircraft guns, light gun mounts, etc. An 'easy' target suddenly has teeth.

And let's not forget the guy with all the great gadgets from James Bond.

Admittedly, there are a few who act as though they're omnipotent, but mostly their abilities are powered by gadgets, technowizards. They've had to do a lot of recycling, but they need resources too - and you have to leave the bunkers for that.

    Techwizes vs magic users
    Who will win?

Let's see if we can get any more people involved.
I'll let the group choose as a whole what "fatction" we'll be a part of. They could just decide we're a group of survivors.

It's your discretion if you want to include them or not. They have only light manufacturing capability but an extensive library.

I thought it might be fun if one of the chimaera used an 'unidentified genetic material' recovered from the massacre of Lab 8. Unknown lifeform. Let's just say they didn't get their pointed ears from the animal DNA.

Well, the world was messed up and mutants and humans aren't the only thing. Other races akin to elves live there now, that was the idea.
I get what you are saying, but I was thinking it would be a little more natural. But I'll be perfectly fine making it another mutation instead.

Humanity has been performing crude genetic manipulation for thousands of years to get us various crops like wheat and domesticated animals. Mutations also happen in the 'wild' thanks to natural sources, but genetic engineering in the lab is speeding it up a bit.

I'll think about my choice of introduction for such races.

Perhaps the Q would be better as rivals? one needs a rival, really.
