    Default Military RP

Hey guys, I was sort of interested in trying a Military based RP

The Recover, which is another one of my RPs I'm trying to get up, has the potential for being more military based. But I wanted to open it up a bit more.

    some other ideas include:

Stargate: A Sci-Fi movie and show that takes place around the Afghan war. earlier in the 1900's, scientists unearth something called the Stargate. This device act as a portal to other stargates around the galaxy.
Under direction of the US air force, teams go through the Stargate on a regular bases, making first contact with new races and cultures and fight galactic dangers.

    American Civil war
    WW1
    WW2
    Vietnam
    Iraque and Afghan wars

    and more

    I'm relatively open.
we can come up with our own setting as a group and go from there.
I'm fine with Fantasy and Steampunk versions of real military events listed.
I'm even ok if we want to go a little less military and do a Zootopia Swap RP.
these are just some ideas that come to mind, and I'm open to other ideas if anyone has any other military based thing.

I once started a fantasy RP years ago that was essentially World War II (specifically the Nazi occupations of Norway and Denmark) with dragons, which can be tweaked around quite easily to include pretty much any and all other mythical/fantasy creatures you might prefer to use instead.

I’ll more than likely have other suggestions later today, but for now this thread reminded me of that RP, so figured I’d throw that idea out there.
    Thanks for the set, Kicks!

I'm perfectly fine with rolling that sort of idea.
In this case, I'd also see the Nazi's as being a racially superior thing as well. Yes, killing off Jews, which wasn't all they did, but killing other races not human as well.

If you'd be interested in doing that, I'm perfectly fine with doing a Fantasy twist on WW2 like you did.
    I also wouldn't mind a steampunk twist on WW1.

I could see the Nazis trying to use the nonhuman races’ special abilities for their own gain, and/or attempting to wipe out any races that either have outlived their usefulness to the cause or would pose too much of a threat to risk leaving them alive.

What general area/faction/etc. would you like to set such an RP in? Both of the World Wars consisted of battles between different factions in several different areas of the globe, each with their own unique historical contexts, so for purposes of this RP it might not be realistic to try to cover all of them at once. Either way, this may also affect what kinds of fantasy creatures are available.

As for your other suggestion, while I personally don’t have much experience with steampunk, I must admit that could certainly be interesting if handled right.
    Thanks for the set, Kicks!

Thinking along the lines of Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan Trilogy
great book series, if you like that sort of thing. But it seemed to have a mix of... not sure what else to really call it but beastpunk as well.
In WW1, it was the central powers (Axis) being Germany, Austria, and one other I can't recall right now, versus the Allied powers, Great Britain, Franc, and later on the US.
Now, I'm only listing the Major powers on both sides, but there was way more.

The Central powers were also known as clankers, because they used machines. Big steampunk landships, zeppelins and walkers.
Great Britain and others of the Allies were Darwinists, because they followed certain scientific teachings by Charles Darwin and used monsters that they made themselves using the DNA of other animals.
And countries like the US and Japan were sort of mixed at the time.
at least that is how it is portrayed in the book.
If we did something like that, I can also see ways to include other races and dragons and such, though maybe not a lot.

Though, I will admit, I am a fan of Fauna type characters, so I will probably find a way to explain that.

    @Lady Celeste; and @Cfavano;

An I to take it that you two are interested in a war/military based RP?
if yes, which setting do you want to do, and what poetic licenses do you want to take?

For example: WW2 with magic and fox people.
    WW1 with magic and steampunk.
    And many more.

Need to take care of some professional coursework first, but I’m definitely interested.

I’m pretty flexible as far as the setting itself, but if I had to name any in particular, the two World Wars, the American Revolution, the American Civil War, and maybe the Cold War and the post-9/11 war on terror are all potentially viable options.

As far as extra quirks, fantasy is a good fit in most settings, although I would recommend using the local folklore of whichever setting is chosen. Alternately, alien-based sci-fi could be good too if the setting is sufficiently modern (e.g. WW2 or the Cold War). Steampunk is usually best-suited to the 19th century or early 20th century, so a steampunk Civil War or WW1 RP could also work.

Those are all some ideas off the top of my head, but I may have more later.
    Thanks for the set, Kicks!
