Ever since The Mandalorian started dropping Season 2, I’ve been itching for some real science fiction. There’s an allure to science fiction that’s thrown away a modicum of realism. Laser blasters, crazy aliens, mystical forces, massive spaceships and faster-than-light travel, intergalactic federations, space pirates and more.
Science Fiction is diverse, with a lot of subgenres and tropes. I can create and run the setting, but ultimately the plot will depend on the players. The game would start as a band of adventurers hoping to make some coin, but you could become explorers of the cosmos, swashbuckling pirates, leaders of a rebellion against a tyrannical empire, or anything else you desire in the glittering expanse of the universe. In that same vein, alien races are totally playable, but I can’t be expected to create every single race in the infinite cosmos. If you have an idea for a species that you’d like to play, pitch it to me, and I’ll either sign off on it or help you modify it to fit. My one rule for alien species is that it’s not simply humanoid earth animal. That goes for anything, cats, wolves, lizards, crickets, whatever.
So, does a good old-fashioned space opera interest anybody?
