Spoiler: Mahala Elaine Norwood
Name: Mahala Elaine Norwood
(photo credit to Victorianchronicles) Nicknames: Molly, Miss Hala Date of Birth: 11 November 1841 Age: 19 General Appearance Mahala stands at 5’3” (160 cm) with eyes that gleam amber and thin rosy lips that typically offer a slight grin at best. Her golden brown hair is usually pinned back and up in a way her parents would consider presentable, yet doesn’t waste much of her time. Brief History:Mahala’s early childhood was wrapped in a comfortable monotony. Most of her days consisted of learning to read from the Bible with her mother and playing in the neighboring fields or sparse wood with Frederic. This was rather fortunate, considering the number of children her age and younger she saw filing off to work behind their parents most mornings. Sometime in the spring of 1850 word began to spread about families who lost several of their members to cholera. Some entire farms had been wiped of any human life, known only to neighbors when unruly animals began breaking loose or someone at the market realized they hadn’t seen a loyal customer in weeks. The Norwoods, already relatively aloof by most standards, became increasingly withdrawn that spring to avoid the bad air downtown. Frederic grew desperate to escape the confines of their home, albeit spacious. One particularly hot August day he snuck to a nearby creek to cool off in hopes of seeing a friend or two. He returned quickly enough to avoid being caught, but a day or two later his stomach refused to contain even broth. No amount of leeching or tonic could save him. The whole family was devastated by his passing, but none so much as Mahala. Their everpresent psychic connection was apparent shortly thereafter and Mahala’s newfound ability to communicate with the dead soon extended beyond her twin. Her parents may have thought she was crazy, or possessed (and perhaps they still wonder) but luckily word of Spiritualism was on many tongues and they had another explanation for their daughter’s strange communications. By 12 it was common knowledge around town that she could sometimes communicate with the dead and at 14 she began accepting the requests for seances she had been receiving in town and by mail.
Spoiler: Flora Tennessee Hale
Flora Tennesee Hale
Nicknames: N/A
Date of Birth: August 23rd, 1840
Age: Twenty
Pronouns: She/Her
General Appearance: WIP
Personality: WIP
Brief History: Flora was born in North Carolina of 1840. Her parents were fairly poor and with that came a slew of problems. From an early age she struggled with hearing voices that were not there due to extreme stress. While her parents did love and care for her, very rarely did they have enough for even a full meal a day. At age seven, Flora ended up in an orphanage after her parents were brutally murdered. It was there she was abused by an older man. It didn't stop until she was age 16 when her abuser disappeared one morning, never to be seen again. At 17-years-old she was adopted by a rich couple and was moved to Maine. Although her parents treated her rather differently from the rest of their biological children, this hardly affected Flora. She had been through enough to be hurt by petty bullshit.
Special Notes: Flora suffers from what we now know as borderline personality disorder, major depressive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
THIS IS A WIP

General Appearance: Flora stands at 5'8" and weighs just over 150 lbs. Her build is quite curvy and her breasts are rather large.
Personality: Aloof
Brief History: Flora was born in Austin, Texas of 1840. Her parents were fairly poor and with that came a slew of problems. From an early age she struggled with hallucinations due to extreme stress. Her adoptive parents treated her rather differently from the rest of her new siblings. They were very strict on her and this created a lot of tension. Even after turning 18 her foster parents still treated her the same.
Random notes: Flora was bullied in the orphanage which caused her to often act out in violence. The last time she hallucinated was two years ago. Her biological parents never knew how to react to Flora's hallucinations and feared it might have been demons trying to possess her, but never did they get the church involved. They instead did their own religious ritual every night to rid their daughter of her sickness for three months up until their deaths. The murder was clearly a homicide but their killer was never found. Flora knows his face.
Special Notes: Flora suffers from what we now know as borderline personality disorder, major depressive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

I have a better idea of Margaret's character (Mahala's mom). Would it be helpful for me to post a sheet for her?
ALSO! I forgot to mention that you can take as much liberty as you'd like in describing the gardens/grounds walking up but I can also edit my post to include a description of the exterior. Let me know if that's what you prefer and I'm happy to whip it up.
