    Default [M] Rise Of A Crime Lord ||| Pilot | Storm ||| 1×1 rp

It was rather an ordinary day. The sun shone overhead, but winter still had its claws tightly wrapped around the city. The streets were chilly, especially if one stood in the shade of the tall buildings where the sun couldn't reach. Seeing that it was almost high noon, there weren't many people out and about. Most were at work, school and the like. The few that were out either were having a nice day off or their didn't job didn't entail set working days and hours. The latter was the case for a certain lad. Most of the time, he chose alone what he'll be doing at his job and when he'll be doing it and how he'll be doing it. People would kill for that kind of job, right? Well, his work sometimes included offing someone. There was always a reason behind it. There was no point in getting rid off someone because they accidentally brushed against you. Though, when they fail to pay the debts they racked up or even try to hide to try and escape it all, that's when murder became justifiable. Granted, to him, the fear one could make them feel was a lot more fun than straight up just shooting them. There were days where just a bullet between the eyes would do the trick and there were others where torture - either physical or psychological - seemed a lot more fitting. Sometimes leaving the dirty work to other people was better. He found himself to be busy most of the time and if he decided he was busy, well there was little to nothing that could peel him away from his work.

Today was a relaxing kind of day. The weather was okay. Unlike for some people, it wasn't cold for him. He was accustomed to the cold, seeing that he grew up in a rather cold country. The day being relaxing didn't mean he didn't have things to do. He always had things to do. On today's agenda was a more simple task. He was trying to scope out any kind of jewelery store. He wanted to send some guy some jewelery as a friendly reminder. Soon enough, he spotted a small shop across the street. Without checking for cars, he crossed, his canine walking right in step with him, her flank pressed against his leg. He paused at the entrance for a second so that a person exists before he stepped inside. He didn't take off the reflective sunglasses he wore when he went in. They were there to prevent people from starting eye-contact with him. He'll only engage in that if he starts it. He wore sunglasses so often that some people, that didn't see him often, didn't even see him without sunglasses. It became a part of his brand and image. On the other hand, some said that his piercing glare framed him better than the glasses.

"I'm gonna assume the dog may come in." Aksel stated from the entrance. His voice was on the quieter side, soothing and smooth as if his words were practised a thousand times before being said. He glanced down at the canine. It had a black vest on. It read that she was a service dog, even though she wasn't officially. No matter. He still had papers for her that appeared real.
Without waiting for a reply, the lad entered the store. His eyes flitted around before settling on a woman behind the counter. It only took him a mere few seconds to analyse her a little. He liked to know who he was dealing with. "Point me to your rings." he requested. He wasn't about to browse around. He expected to be serviced. A ring seemed like the perfect little thing to remind his client of the commitment he made to him when he signed something.

For someone that entered a jewelery store, he didn't really look the type. He wore dark red dungeeres and a simple navy t-shirt beneath. Didn't really look like someone interested in jewels. He could dress better and had more expensive clothes, but this was what he found himself in today. The clothes were comfortable and he could move around in them normally - his movement wasn't restricted in any way. And that was very important. He carried maybe a little too much money in his pockets, but he wasn't afraid of getting mugged.
Aksel scanned the store a little and then approached the woman completely. He liked shiny things, but never was that interested in wearing jewelry. The closest thing he had were a few piercings in his ears. Farther from that, he wasn't going.

The horizon was a dusty red as dust was chokingly dry. Melanie’s eyes were dry as she focused on the scope. The ground she lay in was wet and sticky, as she moved her hand, blood dripped from her palm. A soft echo drifted through the air ‘you could have saved me’ as a shadowy figure drifted toward her. Her eyes moistened even amidst the dust storm swirling around her. She tries to make a sound, her chapped lips move however no sound escapes. The shadowy figure drifts closer as the buzzing of her alarm stirs her from another nightmare.

Melanie’s eyes slowly flutter as she comes awake, perspiration on her face and arms as she reaches over to the alarm clock silencing the device. The digital screen shows 6:00 AM while she wraps herself tightly into her blanket. Moments later she relaxes, loosening her grip on the blankets. As she starts to sit up in bed, her 4 year old cocker spaniel lies next to her resting her chin against Melanie’s leg. She reaches over, resting her hand upon her puppy's head.

“That’s okay Cocoa, mommy was just having a bad dream again. You want some yummy?” she offers in a slightly soft tone.

The smell of French Vanilla could be picked up as Melanie spins out of bed slipping a silky white robe which highlights her tan complexion as she and her puppy head out of the bedroom into the living room. Cocoa walking along Melanie, normally her dog would dart into the kitchen for breakfast but on mornings her mommy had bad dreams, she stayed by her side.

A short while later, Melanie had a cup of French Vanilla coffee, had made some pancakes which of course Cocoa had a couple, and started back to the bedroom to shower. On bad nights, this was an additionally long shower, a coping mechanism. While getting dressed she picked up on the local news
“Overnight a shooting outside The Dugout claimed the…”
She clicked off the remote releasing a soft sigh. She headed out of her room and toward the front closet. Today was going to be a chilly one so she removes her black leather jacket as she put her keys in the pocket finally crouching down next to her puppy hugging her

“You be a good girl and watch things for Mommy.”

With that, she heads out the front door remotely locking the door. The air is brisk as she walks to the driveway to enter her Hyundai Tucson. Moments later she is entering rush hour on the way to her store with her ‘Drive Time’ playlist connected to her audio system.

The 20 minute commute was better than some as she pulled around the back of her store front. She exits the SUV and makes her way through the parking lot to the front. Waiting outside is an elderly woman with greying hair and an oversized brown parka with arms folded and tapping her foot watching Melanie approach. In a raspy voice, the elderly woman spoke

“Miss Kim, you know that your website said that you open at 9:00 AM, it is almost 9:30, how do you expect to keep loyal customers if you keep up out in the cold?!”

Offering a soft smile and tone
“Good morning Mrs. Harrison, give me a sec and I will get open and I’ll put some nice warm tea on for us, and I’ll adjust your watch again. How is Kenny, he graduates High School doesn’t he?”

Assisting Mrs. Harrison inside the store and making honey lemon tea, Mrs. Harrison’s favorite, Melanie pours tea and microwaves a tray of biscuits bringing them to the table Mrs. Harrison had sat at. Meanie then adjusts the watch that can not hold time beyond a few days then heads behind the counter

“I finished Kenny’s graduation pendant last night and have it gift wrapped special for him, I am sure you are so proud of your grandson.”

The two share some small talk before Mrs. Harrison heads out of the store, a soft smile on Melanie’s lips wondering when the sweet old lady will be back to reprimand her for being too late, too early or some reason to stop by to have her watch looked at while getting something warm to eat and drink.

As Mrs. Harrison exits, her attention is drawn to the gentleman who was at the entrance of her store inquiring if his dog could also enter, As she inhales slightly and is about ready to say the dog is welcome, she quirks a brow as the guy enters before she had a chance to welcome the puppy wuppy. Under her breath ‘why bother asking twirp’ watching as the guy who is easy on her eyes approaches her and seems to order “Point me to your rings.”

Melanie gives Aksel a hard stare and points to a display case where she keeps her budget rings. She moves around the counter focusing on the dog, her tone up beat

“So what is your name sweetie?” before looking toward Aksel thinking the guy looks familiar, mabe on the news, perhaps a supplier or … no, definitely does not look copish, her tone polite yet flat
“So what is the occasion for the ring? Girlfriend’s birthday? Class ring? Casual gift? Is there a budget you are trying to stay at?”

This man has really irritated her, she likes this guy's dog better than him though the ‘service animal’ does not fit the usual profile for service animals. As she looked dead in his eyes, there was a soft smile subconsciously forming across her lips.

As soon as the woman pointed him in the right direction, he foucsed all his attention on the rings. He took them all in fairly quickly and then looked to the side as the worker spoke to his dog. The canine, as she was trained, stood between him and the other person, acting as a shield for personal space. Granted, in a store, he couldn't insist on personal space that much, so the canine stood really close to him.
"Her name is Lykke." he gave the other the name of the dog. He looked down at his pet once more. She was a Belgian Malinois. She was perfect for him to train for protection. He loved the dog dearly. One of the few beings he actually cared about and which he wouldn't feel neutral to losing.

When the worker looked back at him, staring at him and offering a smile, Aksel mirrored her smile back and then spoke. "Nei, there's no need for a budget in this kind of situation." he lightly shook his head, looking away from her at the jewelry. "I just need something shiny for a friend." he told her. He could have left it at that. He could. Albeit, he sometimes was a rather talkative person. And that was today. He had plenty of energy and some to spare. It had to be spent somehow. He was also feeling like lying further. It always felt like an itch. An urge. He always went ahead and satisfied that. It wouldn't mean anything if he lied to this random person. Not like he was going to see then ever again. Maybe only if he enters this store for something again. But otherwise, he doubted it.

"I need something shiny for a friend." Aksel repeated what he last said, his voice quieter that time. "There's a running gag that we'll marry. I don't remember from where that stemmed, but I'll gladly feed into it and buy the friend a ring." he spoke with a smile still planted on his features and his tone changed to a light-hearted one. He stared at the rings, letting out a small chuckle before he spoke again. "I predict the reaction is gonna be priceless."

The lad looked over from those rings. He had a few glances at them. He wanted to see if the worker had anything better in her store. The average cost of a ring was around five thousand. With how much he carried on himself at the moment, he was ready to pay double that. Granted, he did have his card in case he really liked one that was more money than that. He didn't like using his card that much though. He much preferred paying upfront in cash.

"So, do you have anything shinier?" He asked her. He didn't want to settle on one immediately. Sure, this was being sent as a warning, but he still wanted to get a good one. "I'm sure my fiancé wouldn't want me to cheap out on him, eh?"

As Aksel spoke of his dog’s name, Melanie already had her first question answered. ‘Guard Dog’ filtered through her thoughts based how the dog acted as a barrier between the two. The actions did not seem like service animals are taught, now to determine if the cute guy was the trainer or obtained the trained dog. This mattered not, mayhap the guy was the corporate type that required such protection, simply looked out for his own well being or other reason for having a protective animal by his side.

Her expression nor unwavering smile would betray her thought process, to the untrained. As the guy made his way to examine the display rings, the ones that were for show and easy to replace should smash and grab people target her business, she casually made her way around the counter and arranged several porcelain figurines on a shelf before picking up a tennis ball. She did not give a direct glance toward the man looking over the display rings as she started squeezing on the tennis ball as though exercising her hand. Were the cute guy the cute dog’s actual trainer, it might resonate the reason she held the tennis ball. Police dog handlers absolutely hated when she would do this when they demoed take downs. During training demos, as the police dog would run and was almost to her, knowing how dogs were rewarded during training, she would throw a tennis ball distracting the dog nearly every time which would break off her and chase the ball. Her thought train was broken as Aksel mentioned needing something for a friend, a fiancée and was looking for something a little more elegant.

Keeping the ball in hand, she makes her way to the display case offering in a soft polite tone

“Something a little more flashy for a fiancée, I am sure we could come up with something ideal for him.” Her thoughts still picking up on the potential that this potentially was a gag gift for his boyfriend circling back to his mentioning that the recipient expected a wedding. The reasoning mattered not, the guy was apparently interested in something a little more elegant than what was in the display case.

She moves behind the ring display counter sliding the cabinet drawer open which reveals a lock box welded to the floor. She rests her finger on the reader screen on the front followed by entering the key code when prompted.

“I trust you might find something to your liking…” softly spoken as the locking mechanisms deactivate allowing the door click to open. Glancing up toward the man, watching his dog's activity as well, ball still in hand, opens the lock box sliding a velvet covered tray from inside. Obscured from view resting next to where the tray sat was a Beretta 9 MM with a round chambered. This was not like her Glock 9 MM sub compact she keeps in her handbag, her Beretta was specifically there in the event she was ever ‘forced’ to open the lock box under duress. The rounds in the Beretta were of her own design and were designed to fragment upon entry. The chambered round was an armor piercing hollow point with a mercury tip which would penetrate personal armor and literally fragment inside the body. As usual she removed a slender platinum 10 inch rod with a velvet tip and used by appearance to point out the craftsmanship of each piece. If needed, a twist of the base would separate for one end providing a razor sharp and highly tempered blade.

Melanie sets the tray atop the display case removing the velvet cover from the tray with a series of rings. Staying behind the display case she nods to a pair of silk like gloves along the tray
“It would be appreciated if you wear gloves if you are going to handle the rings hun.” offered again with the same polite tone she had been using “Let me know if one on these might suit what you are looking to give your fiancée.”

Her thoughts drift on all the times random friends cautioned her in keeping such valuable rings out on display when anyone asked about her higher end merchandise. The security consultants which provided her ‘suggestions’ for safer operational procedures and the price sheet each consultant offered for guards and or cameras. She couldn’t refrain from a subconscious giggle being cameras were the last thing she wanted in her shop if someone were going to try and take it down. She could put on a very convincing ‘frightened crying woman’ persona were anyone to make the mistake of robbing her. Her focus goes back to the cute guy and his adorable dog.

Aksel wasn't sure why the woman was carrying a tennis ball, but he didn't comment on it. He noticed it when she went to get the more flashy rings. Did she want to play with his dog? That seemed rather unprofessional in a store. That seemed like a risk in store with fragile things. He wasn't stuck on it long. It was none of his worries. He knew Lykke wouldn't go and play with the woman unless he allowed her to, so he didn't see a reason for him to worry about his dog jumping after the ball and potentnionally breaking something. He glanced down at his canine. She sat by his leg now that the worker was behind the counter. He pet her and murmured something in his mother langauge to her. The dog was relaxed, as he wanted her to be.

"Takk. Thank you." He thanked her when she placed the more shiny rings in front of him. He already loved the look of them. When she mentioned putting on the gloves, he nodded. "Don't worry. I won't touch anything until its paid for." he told. "You know the rule: Look with your eyes, not your hands." he repeated the one sentence he was sure his father told him more than anything else when he was younger. He was a very curious person, and still is to this day, but as a child he would go ahead and try to touch or take anything that he found interesting-looking. Sometimes it was just to see if it was heavy, if it was light, if one could squeeze it, if it had an interesting texture.... And so on and so on. He broke a couple of things like that. Things he definitely shouldn't have as it often happened when they were in someone else's house. He broke his foot as well because he managed to pull something off a shelf, but it was too heavy to hold so it slipped out of his hands and landed directly on his foot. And whatever happened or whatever he wanted to see, it was always the same statement from his parent. Look with your eyes, not your hands. He more or less managed to beat the urge to take everything into his hands nowadays.

Aksel was quick to look over the rings. He quickly narrowed it down to three that he liked, and then two and then he mentally just wanted to a flip a coin when it came between the last two. He decided fairly quickly actually and he turned around to look away from the rings to speak to the worker. Though, he noticed movement at the entrance. His eyes immediately focused there and he watched as a man in a suit and overcoat walked in. His nose twitched. It was his only show of discomfort, displeasure or alike. He wanted to be alone in the store. Why couldn't the man wait another minute so that he pays and gets out? He kept back his sigh as he watched the person walk in. Well, he was first here, he supposed he'll get his services first. Though, then he noticed that the newcomer had some kind of badge on him. Grand, the lad thought. Just what he wanted. No matter. They didn't look like an officer. It shouldn't worry him either way. He came here with the intent to pay.

The canine again moved to be between her owner and the two people in the store.
"Hei hei." The lad greeted the newcomer even though they weren't here for him. He'd wait and see what they wanted before he told the worker on which ring he decided.

As Aksel approached the rings on the display case, a genuine smile graced her lips on his comment of look and not touch. This was so rare any more with people in general assuming things were theirs upon mere looking. This cute guy was certainly rare. She would not dismiss the possibility that there was something more to him than just his manners. She herself was considered a sweet, kind and helpless woman by many who knew her. This was something she would not dwell upon as she quietly gave Aksel space to examine the collection before him.

Melanie could feel that this man had potentially narrowed down his selection, possibly even determining which ring caught his fancy. As she was about to ask if he had questions or had narrowed down a specific ring, she could hear the door open and close. The first thing that caught her attention was not the brisk cold breeze that accompanied the newest entrant into her store, but the linger odor of cheap cologne. Her eyes shifted for a brief moment toward the man wearing a somewhat thick brown trench coat which was intentionally held open along with a suit jacket that was at least five seasons past. She lightly closes her eyes, before having a chance to speak, the man does.

Kevin having entered the store with the intent of bringing up the news story on the morning news in an effort to secure more security equipment sales and service contracts. Having already caught sight of Aksel and his dog, not knowing them other than a male in the store with an attractive and naive woman, he felt it was his duty to offer a protective presence for the woman who had turned down his repeated dinner offers. Kevin had made special effort to open his trench coat and suit jacket so as to have his security badge which was clipped to his belt visible for ‘that man’ to see. Even though he knew Melanie, he decided to make the intro so the man with Melanie would be aware of his presence.

“Miss Kim, Kevin Kucera with Total ..” the next word he made louder for emphasis “.. SECURITY .. stopping in to check on you with that overnight shooting just six blocks from your store during their closing, probably a robbery or something.”

Melanie could not believe the arrogance of Kevin, making matters worse, Kevin was now standing with his arms crossed like a jealous boyfriend or some other macho show. Melanie was aware of The Dugout Bar. Obviously, the sleazy security sales guy was trying to put a robbery angle being close to her store. She had been inside that bar several times since it’s opening wearing a deep red wig with hazel cosmetic contacts when it first opened five months ago. Right from the start she could recognize the bar was run by a want to be drug dealer and was using the bar as a front for deals. The shooting did not surprise her, it was only time before the organization that ran that area would send a message to the wanna be that he was intruding on their turf.

Melanie took a breath to calm down before speaking trying to keep a sweet tone, though the vein in her temple was obvious she was upset
“Mr. Kucera, I will be with you in a moment, I am with someone now…” before looking to Aksel “Please forgive the interruption Mr. … “ she bites at her bottom lip offering a slight smile “… you must consider me rude … My name is Melanie, Melanie Kim … have you considered what your fiancée might like? And I will of course engrave his name as part of the purchase…” casting a somewhat cold gaze in Kevin’s direction “and I can offer you a 15 percent discount for the rude interruption.”

One think certain, she and Kevin were going to have a ‘discussion’ after the cute guy and precious puppy were finished with this selection or purchase.

As the newcomer introduced himself, with a rather fat sense of importance, Aksel just stood there and stared. His staring was one of the reasons he had to wear sunglasses at times. He had a fixed stare, meaning it was an unblinking stare that always made the recipient feel awkward. Sometimes it was on purpose. A fixed stare could intimidate people. Though, more often than not, it wasn't on purpose. He did it subconsciously when thinking or in situations like this when someone enters the scene and he already isn't fond of them. He had to keep his eye on him.

As Kevin lied about what happened at the Dugout Bar, or at least just didn't know what actually happened, the lad felt the need to correct him. He'd love to lower this guy's ego that seemed to reach the sky. Didn't he understand that he was nothing but scum right here and now? It wouldn't be questionable if he corrected him, right? Not everyone died in the bar. He knew that. He could just say he knows someone who works there and that he spoke with them. Seemed like a fair story for him. A fair story to cover up him just wanting to prove this man wrong.
"Robbery or something?" he echoed after the man. "What good security you provide, Mr. Security." he smirked a little, finding it amusing. "How can you provide Total Security," he esmphaised the name of the company, "if you don't even know or are not even sure what happened, hæ?" he prompted, staying quiet after as he slowly turned around to face the rings again and the worker. "It wasn't even a robbery." he added at the end, before completely shaking off that theme and focusing on what he was getting.

"Ja, I've decided on a ring." Aksel finally answered her question. If the display with the rings was a grid, he'd have to pick out a ring like that. A grid of letters and numbers. Like battle ships. He liked that simple game. "The ring on B3." he requested from her, before he thought to the fact that it'll be engraved with the name. Did he have a say with the engsving? Could something else be engraved? Maybe it wouldn't matter. All that mattered is that the ring reaches the man. He'll deliver it himself - and make sure his point comes across. "I'm sure my fiancé will love it." he commented with a smile. "His name is Mark." he told her. "With two K's, don't even ask me why. But if his ring doesn't read correct it'll have to be returned because, my stars, his name has more K's than standard."

Then, the lad turned back around to observe the security guy. He didn't give him off a good impression. He felt like he was someone who would reach for a gun way too quickly either to show off or because he was a coward. He didn't have any type of handgun on himself right now. He forgot to take one. He just had a hidden knife and the canine to protect him. That should be good enough. Even if Kevin had a gun, he believed he could safely assume he wasn't skilled with it.
"So, Mr. Security, what kind of total security are you offering from an alleged robbery?"

As Aksel had selected B3, Melanie offered a soft smile. The cute guy obviously has fine taste in jewelry. What to do with the tennis ball drifts through her mind - first thought was to throw it with all her might at Kevin's head. The cute guy to her front however already called the irritating sales guy out. Should she chime in and further call Kevin out, to mention she was well aware of what more than likely brought the shooting six blocks from her store front. 'No, be the sweet girl people think you are' over rules her desire to bring Kevin down a notch or two, perhaps even have the horrid scent of his cologne on her ball.

Kevin had already started slowly walking in the direction of Aksel and Melanie, doing a pathetic attempt of opening his jacket a little further so the two could 'casually' observe the shoulder holster under the suit jacket.

Paying Kevin no attention, Melanie set the tennis ball atop the display case and removed a small writing tablet and chrome metal pen from a drawer in the case. "A beautiful selection, I am sure he will fall in love with it." in a soft tone looking more to the writing tablet writing
~With discount B3 will run 17,350.00. The other you were last looking at, C4 would run 14,750.00~
with a slight giggle in her tone "and not to worry, I am familiar with variants of names, Mark with two Ks will be the engraving..." her tone goes more professional "... just write any other wording on the inscription, I should be able to manage two lines, ten characters each line while maintaining readability."
Even though she was not looking toward him, her peripheral vision was tracking Kevin's where about. She begins to narrow her eyes realizing Kevin was getting closer. What the hell was he thinking?

Still a few paces from the two, the security man offers in response to the man with the dog's inquiry
"I am glad you asked young man. To set the record clear, the Dogout Bar was not even a client of mine, had it been, that unfortunate robbery and shooting could have been prevented. As far as what I offer, that is more for the beautiful girl and I to discuss ... in ... private. Just go back to ring shopping for your... " Kevin makes sure of offer a disapproving facial expression "BoyFriend." Kevin stops before looking toward Melanie, his tone turns almost flirtatious "When you are done with HIM, I have somethings I would like to go over on how Total Security could provide a safe environment for you being just a single woman alone without even any cameras watching you."

Melanie was still enjoying the digs the cute guy was taking, then as Kevin spoke, he confirmed he was running a sales pitch as he did not even know the bar name, she then grits her teeth trying to refrain from screaming at the rude man. Her mouth dropped open at his comment about a single woman alone with no camera coverage. If she were truly the vulnerable woman she portrays, this idiot just did the equivalent of inviting danger into her shop. Her tone uncharacteristically gruff "I'm with someone ... I'll Be with You in a moment ... Mr. Kucera." Five years ago something stupid like that would have earned Kevin a swift throat punch, she was getting to the point of losing it. She closes her free hand into a fist as Kevin playfully utters "Sorry sweetie, make this up over dinner?"

Aksel watched as Kevin moved closer to them. He wrinkled his nose and took a step away, hearing Lykke give a soft mark as a warning to not get any closer. The dog was certainly on edge - just like her owner was beginning to be. He didn't like this person. He worked with sleazy people and around ones one probably shouldn't trust, and he still just wasn't liking this guy. He didn't like his posture. He didn't like the way he spoke. He didn't like the way he looked at him. And he most definitely hated how he smelled. "Please, stay at a polite distance." he asked from the man. "Come any closer to me and that rancid smell will rub off on me. And, no thank you. I smell wonderful, don't want to smell like a whore by the time I get back home. I don't really want problems with my fiancé."

Then, the lad turned his attention to the worker again. His tone changed quickly right now. He was able to change his tone of voice fairly quickly like that and he always changed it depending on who he was speaking to. His normal tone was just really flat and monotone. Something people didn't like or appreciate. Though, always watching out that his tone was backed up by some kind of emotion or whatever else so that its acceptable to people drained his energy. He would be out of here soon, so he wasn't worry about still using the tones he assigned to the two.
"Right, the inscription." Aksel repeated to himself. He quickly spun a few things through his head before speaking up. "Just write down" he paused for a second, "DødT." right after, he spelled it out, with a normal o. "D - O - D - T. It will mean more to us two than you." he assured.

Now that was over, he turned to Kevin again. "Oh, it's not my boyfriend. We're getting married. So he's practically my husband. I'm sure it makes you happy as well to hear that someone else is happy." he said with an edge to his tone. He was good with patience usually. Though, with the excess energy he had today, he could barely contain some impulsive thoughts. "And anyway, it's really a shame you can't pitch your stuff better. I mean, I know you've come to speak to her, but what if I'm interested in some security. Pitch it to me. C'mon, Big Guy. I'm sure you can pitch it well." by now, the lad was just obviously having his piece of fun with this man. He wasn't taking him seriously. This was beginning to be amusing and nothing else. A show.

As Kevin spoke to the worker again, Aksel was actually losing his patience. Not only was the man slowing down the process of everything, but he also brought an ugly aura into the shop as soon as he made an appearance. "You know what, Mr. Security? From how much you speak about making it safe elsewhere, and not doing a good job if it ultimately.. Like, seriously, my guy, you should count on being fired soon. You're bad at your job." He accidentally rambled on from his initial point, but he returned to it after. "You speak a lot about making it safe, but I think we should make places safe from you." he emphasised. "Not only do you smell worse than a garbage truck, you are creepy as hell and I'm sure no one enjoys your presence. You should really think your life over or get some therapy to fix your behaviour." he gave the man a long, hard glare whilst he spoke, even though he knew his eyes were still covered with the sunglasses.

Aksel slowly looked away from Kevin at the worker, who had introduced herself as Melanie earlier, to ask. "In which way can I pay? If you take cash, I'll much rather do that here on the spot." he told her. "If not, I have my card as well." although speaking to her, he still had Kevin in his vision, much like the dog.

Still staring blankly at Kevin, before she responded to the outrageous dinner invitation, the cute man responded to the irritating sleazy security sales guy, she used the interaction between the cute guy and Kevin to calm down. As she focused in the interaction, her facial features start to draw blank as she focuses slightly more on Kevin, his unusual look on his features.

Kevin on the other hand starts focusing upon the ring display upon the display case. Paying attention to what the man with the dog was saying, Kevin focuses more on straining to get a glimpse at what Melanie had written on the tablet. What was clear was the rings in the display were far more valuable that what he has seen anytime he had swung through her shop. Aksel’s words were heard yet Kevin simply drifted to his beginnings.

Ten years ago opening a security company after failing to be selected on applications to the police department for two years past. Failing to become a police officer each of the two years, the department simply would have to give consideration to a security consultant had been his thought process. Year ten, Kevin was able to list ‘President – Total Security’ to his application. Kevin did not even secure an in person agility test .. as was the case the previous two years. This was the same year nine and each of the following years.

The only real change was four years past when a real estate associate gave him a referral about a woman new in town who just opened a fine gift store which specialized in jewelry. Kevin fell for Melanie the moment he entered the store and she offered him such a heart stopping smile. Often during the four years this woman was open, Kevin would often imagine himself as a police officer entering her store and saving her from a dangerous situation. He imagined how he would eventually propose to Melanie and her accepting in tears of joy. Dates never happened, the police job never happened, Kevin however would never give up hope. The badge he wore on his belt was one that Melanie designed and crafted for him as a gift. The dream cloud however was darkening. The jewelry on the display had to be more valuable than what he made in years. Kevin’s attention perked up as the man with the dog had mentioned making a cash purchase. A large amount of cash, an unknown amount of expensive jewelry in a store with no cameras … that he was aware of. Just a man, woman, dog and his six rounds in his .38 caliber snub nose revolver would give him a chance to get away and start a new life. Kevin dearly hoped that Melanie would want to come with him.

Aware of where Kevin was and his change of demeanor, Melanie maintained her smile while focusing on Aksel. Not changing her tone to indicate her concern, she offers “D .. O .. D .. T .., I have it. I am open till 8:00 tonight and can have the ring ready by 7:00..” removing a business card sliding it across the display case while setting the platinum pointer along to ring case so as to have both hands free while slightly stepping to the side to be directly in front of the open lock box “.. or if you prefer, I would have no problem delivering the ring to you.”

As Aksel had mentioned payment method, she would never speak of amounts when there was anyone else in her shop. Payment amounts were a private thing for her customers, rather a $40.00 necklace or a $40,000.00 private showing piece, she would always give privacy into her customers finances, now more than ever given the bad feeling she was drawing from Kevin. She wrote under the prices she had already provided the cute man
    ~cash price for B3 $15,615.00 ~
Tearing the sheet off the pad and setting it upside down in front of Aksel simultaneously taking note of Kevin raising his head in a lame attempt at slyly trying to see what was written.

She didn’t think Kevin would be so stupid to actually try something in the store however like everything elae, she would not dismiss the potential. She was already aware that he had a snub nose .38 in a holster that it takes a few seconds to get out from the times he has displayed his revolver to her in an effort to let her know that he had a weapon and was not afraid to use it. She also knew that he carried the revolver, not out of some sense of nostalgia, it was out of the fact that it was all he could afford to buy after some background digging on her own. She did pay close attention to the detail of the revolver each time he would show it to her and surmised that it probably had never been fired. Her main concern was for the cute man and his dog also in her store.

She herself would go to a shooting range 60 miles away in the town of Carter Lake wearing her bleach blonde wig and cosmetic powder blue contacts always using her alias Darcy Chin. Part of her practice at least weekly was quick fire with her weapon on the firing table positioned in a manor her Beretta lay. She could put a three shot group in a second. It was her just in case, again, she did not think Kevin would do anything stupid. That changed as she noticed Kevin heading to leave the store, stop at the front door and lock it turning back to her and the cute guy.
