Default Life in a D&D world

This party had been together for years. They had been through several campaighns and very memerable adventures.
But they wanted something new. So they invited a new player to the group. Some new blood to spice things up.
they played a short campaighn with him and they got along very well.
then the guy offerd to run the next game. He already had a setting in mind, to wich everyone agreed would be amazing to explore.
So it was agreed that they would gather at the new guy's place for session 0.
Doing so, they learned a few more thigns about the world and was given some great artistic license for their backstories and they even helped develoup the world a bit.
After all the excitment and preperation, they handed over their character's at the DM's request and agreed to come back next week for session 1.
Upon their arival, the table was set, they were seated and handed their character sheets.
then the Dungeon master pulled out a strang book and chanted some strange words.
The room went dark, and then the party found themselves in their respective characters in the world they had helped create.
The party must now defeat the BBEG if they are ever to get back to reality.

Hello and welcome to life in a D&D world.
The whole idea is as may have been described above:
The party now has to live as their characters in a D&D game.
This world does have some Shield Hero/SAO aspects in the fact that you can look at your own stats and health and level up your skills.

I do not plan on running any specific system unless the party wants me to.
My options are Pathfinder 1e, D&D 5e, system light, or no system.
there will be rules to regulate power.

If you are interested, you are welcome to help build this grand and wonderful world you will soon be living in.

Sounds like this could be fun. Will we be able to understand the locals?

depending on the system used, yes.
If we choose Pathfinder of D&D, you will understand any languange that your character would normally understand.
Otherwise, if we go system light or no system, yes.

I definitely like the concept - and if the world we’d be entering hits enough of the right notes for me, I’d be in. I like good vs. evil and prefer the side of good, or maybe true neutral for the right concept. I’m not too crazy about having evil-aligned characters in the party, but could be okay with it if there are clear ground rules for said character. (No evil stupid). Said evil guy needs a reason to go along with the party and not rob or screw us over just because “it’s what my character would do.”

I’d be open about the system, just understand that if we do D&D, I’ll need a crash course on the differences between that and Pathfinder as regards character creation. (Beyond the skill point thing you mentioned - I think it would be interesting to pick my class skills at least once.)

Make the D&D world fantasy-themed and without too much overt horror, rape, torture or need for constant combat and I’d probably go for it.

Edit: Would we need to make both a ‘real world’ character, and then also their D&D world character? So RPing real world characters sitting at a game table talking about their game characters, then bammo, we’re in our D&D world and as an RPer, my identity is basically Lucy (real world character)/Luminelle (D&D world character)?

Yes, that is the general idea.
Also, I tend to keep my games clean. The only reason it's M at all is for artistic license.
I'm leaving the system up to the players, but I'll be going system light if there is no clear choice by the group.
And, yes, it'll be a fantasy setting with most your normal D&D/Pathfinder races and maybe even the norms for said races and maybe a few extra.

Even if there is no real system, the game will be loosely based on D&D/Pathfinder.

To be clear, I mean that "yes, you'll have your 'player' and that 'player' will have a D&D character"

I feel I should also let you know that I'm now largely confined to my phone now since I won't always be able to use my school PC, and my dinotop has gotten to the "refusing to work" faze.

System light actually sounds pretty good.

    Great.

I'll be making the OOC soon, and we'll probably start as soon as we get a 4th person (including myself) in this group.
Now I do have another guy who is interested, but he needs to fix his PC first and IDK how long that'll take.
He's a bit emo though, so I'll need to talk to him about that.

DnD I know well, that I could easily make a 'character sheet' for the roleplayer to use.

I'll get the OOC up soon, and then you guys can start making your characters.
I do have another guy who hasn't even made an account yet because his PC is busted. He hopes to get it fixed sometime this week.
