Default (M)Through the Barrier to Time Travel(OOC)

It all started with a scientist on a research team whose equipment manage to hold stable a spatial temporal anomalous wormhole leading into a different place and time. The great Uncertainty Factorist Master Triggs had just finally managed the expansion of the uncertainty factor, to make available an early form of a usable spatial wormhole. Humanity up to this point had never managed any controlled production of these anomalies, but here Triggs and his team had the sure open end of one, and truly were planning to do tests with what they decided was desirable for sending through it, with the situation of not yet knowing where the other end was. Though it is from quantum effects it is sizable enough for putting things through, as large as a person. Equipment is sent through it and brought back showing that is the case. The wormhole can be kept continuously in that place but it depends on the money that is the grant for the research as it is expensive. Tethering instruments put through afterwards worked and brought back information of sorts. Still it was not known what time or place was at the other end which this spatial temporal wormhole led to. Soon enough the scientists and others on the research team want to have a person go through it and find out plenty of things about that time and place it reaches, to bring back that information. A qualified person is finally sent through with also being tethered, this one comes back with a lot more description than was derived from instruments. It is still not enough for knowing when and where that is. So finally they have a qualified person sent through untethered, but with an instrument tethered which will serve as a beacon. This person wears simple garb that will work for keeping warm in that environment, that might be more acceptable to any there as observers, and wearing an apparent scarf covering mouth and nose, that yet is an effective barrier to viruses being transmitted, and then going along with thin stakes with flags that can be placed in the ground at intervals while that one walks some distance from the end of the wormhole there to better investigate this area in the time it is there.

Characters I volunteer to have roleplayed for entering through the wormhole include:

Roger Bulmard, who is knowledgeable in many things useful for exploring such an unknown terrain. He is 33 at this time. He willingly agrees to volunteer for such exploration, accepting the risks, with provision of making all preparations he could plan for.

Winston Nada, 30 at this time, who initially volunteers, with being tethered.

I have Vance Belcor, 30 at this time, as a named character on the research team.

Other characters besides the four I named may be introduced by players to this.

    Player Name: @Sabes;
    Character Name: Neeto Simmons
    Age: 21, still in college
    Profession: assistant scientist/intern
Description: Neeto throws the switch, pokes the do-dads, and sticks around for moral support with wide eyes and admiration. He is tall and skinny and a nerdy-looking dude who has a habit of buzzing about when he's confused or forgets what he's doing.
Flaw: He considers it a bit of comic relief, but he always finds himself in the wrong place in the wrong time. Not to mention he's a bit of an airhead and sometimes has to be told something multiple times before he gets it.
Weapon for defense: A sloppy, hand-made shiv. Looks like a sharpened toothbrush handle... "It was all I had! Pretty resourceful, right?"
Equipment: Hidden Pocket protector for his Hidden pocket creation, magnifying-glasses, "indestructible" shoes, and a bright orange hardhat that looks a little too big on him.
Bio: Even though everyone sees him as just someone who's living a totally average life, Neeto has lived as though every moment had a chance of being on the news or in a sitcom. He did normal, boring things in the grand scheme of things, like finish highschool with flying colors, daydream about hot chicks who can cook or teach him something new, and start college and an internship. Of course, his perspective is that he was on a very unique adventure. This internship could mean that he could score a big deal job and make a good life for his mom and brother. His father died in a scientific experiment when he was young and he's been wanting to follow in his footsteps ever since, hoping to make a living to help his mom raise his younger brother. Other than his dad dying when he was young, he's lead a normal and relatively problem-free life that most consider to be mundane, but he has his ways of adding interest and fun into every-day things.

Definitely want to get in on this, but should first ask the sort of tech you're allowing?

I imagine this scenario playing out possibly a generation after this time, not really far off, a time in which some among us would still be around to see, so I have this open to anything for a handheld weapon possible now in our time, if you were meaning to ask about that, but nothing very futuristic. The technology with using quantum effects and negative energy I see as being much more advanced, so there is advanced machinery at this site for that. Futuristic technology, and much of what is contemporary technology, is rather beyond me, so I am not into describing things in, say, science fiction writing. So this will be leaning more to the fantasy writing that I know I write well for.

Okay, that still leaves a lot of room.

Probably best to avoid that sort of tech then, don't want it affecting the machine.

But the scientists will want some data, so either simple instruments or hidden tech devices - possibly both.

What about comms? Do you see a need to communicate with the field team?

There would be likelihood of certain advanced equipment there, besides all that is keeping the wormhole in place, which though is understood in the account to be very costly. Communication with devices is attempted still with the one going through there tethered, there had been no feedback from instruments sent through previously and only some information brought back with those things tethered that were withdrawn through it to this research center again; the attempt with the devices is still a failure, and the information from that is just the account of what was observed when that one returns.

One of my suggestions was a tethered cage used to transport people back in time. That cage could be a repeater for the wormhole generator. But any radio communication has to go through the cage relay, unless they've got some sort of independent repeater that creates a miniature wormhole effect to link back to the lab?

@Sabes; I look forward to seeing your bio. @SUKONE-P; I hope to see info for your character in this. Still characters on the team that I introduced are available for being roleplayed by any joining here wanting to do that.

How tight might a cage be? I can't describe spatial temporal wormholes really well. But as this one is just wide enough for a person to go through, it seems that forces of distortion from the curvature could be ruining anything larger that one tries to push through it. There would more probably would just be resistance there to larger things going through.

Still for what things I have in mind communication will not be so relevant for it. Any of those going through will probably come back again with some interesting information for those still waiting there. I am thinking there might be ongoing exploration through it and beyond, while the expense of this research is yet adequately funded.
