    Default How Does This Work

Very confused about how this site works and how to become a full member. Probably won’t come on again.

@Almanac; If it looks like you're contributing, you become a member. You contribute by posting and showing you're interested. You've shown some interest already, so you're not that far from becoming a member.

As to how this site works, it's fairly simple.

Someone puts together a concept for a roleplay, and they then work out if this is a 1x1, or a group roleplay so they can determine where it goes - the private roleplays or this section for groups.

Group roleplays need to allow all the players their chance for their characters to shine.

So if there's enough interest, they then create the Out of Character (OOC) thread in the appropriate forum - fantasy, general, scifi, horror, or parody. In this OOC thread, they'll go in depth about the setting and establish a character sheet. Some games may include a small sheet for detailing races, planets, vehicles, or technology as well that the players want to bring in. There can be maps, etc.

The OOC thread allows the players to ask questions to fully flesh out the setting in their heads. They can then fill out their character sheets and any other information and submit it to the game master/narrator. The narrator has final say in what characters, races, and technology they will allow.

If the character is too over the top or "Op", they may be asked to work on it, or be rejected. A fair number of my submissions have gotten tweeked to fit.

When there is enough players, the narrator will then open the game in the In Character (IC) forum for the genre they're set in. If there will be more adult elements, they'll open it in the mature IC thread.

It's then people reacting to the narrator's opening post, the reactions of the other players, and the narrator's posts, doing all the in character stuff in the IC thread.

The secret of success is to have players posting and having fun.

If they reach the end, the narrator tells the moderators and the game gets put away and awards are handed out for completing play. Otherwise it may get recycled if people are not responding within a reasonable span of time.

Is there anything else you'd like to know?
