Oracle - Interest Check

For as long as there have been humans, there have been monsters. Predators at the edges of villages, searching for unwitting prey to drag screaming into the darkness. Masked horrors that walk amongst their prey, unseen until they strike. That which goes bump in the night.

They hunger for human flesh, craving the warmth of life to replace the chill of the grave, yet death holds no dominion over them. Sunlight burns them like flame, silver repels them, garlic foul to their senses. A stake of wood, driven through their heart, will paralyze them. Many have hunted for centuries, the perfect apex predator: the Vampire.

Long gone are the days of scattered covens and lone vampires. Our prey, weak as they are, have gained strength in numbers. Not only this, but a sect of them have gained insight into our weaknesses and have mounted what they consider a “counter-offensive”. In the current age, we creatures of the night have banded together in solidarity. We must adapt to the way of things, and it seems our greatest strength must come similarly in wide-ranging packs. The Council of 13 have decreed it so. Even so, our enemies are tightening their grip. More of our kind are killed each night. Some have begun to wonder if the Council of 13 truly have the skills to protect us.

Greetings and dark salutations! The idea for a vampire-themed roleplay came to me like so many of my other great ideas do: in the grips of a mind-rending nightmare. Many a restless night have been spent pondering this.

On a less dramatic note, my idea goes that two secret sects (one of vampires and one of vampire hunters) have been in a pitched battle for centuries. The vampires wish to subjugate humanity and bring on an age of darkness and blood, while the Brotherhood of Light wish to eradicate vampires from the face of the planet. The vampires however, hold a secret. Buried deep beneath the earth is an ancient creature borne of the worst fears of humanity, the progenitor of all vampires known simply as the Oracle.

The vampires mean to find a way to awaken the Oracle. They have been searching for a way for millennia. However, when news of the Oracle reaches the ears of the Brotherhood of Light, their plans must be accelerated. The nearest blood moon coincides with the 31st of October, when the veil is thinnest between realms. Will the vampires succeed and bring an end to the age of man? Or will the zealots of the Brotherhood of Light succeed and destroy both the vampires and the Oracle forever?

In case anyone is interested in this but would prefer the vampire hunter angle, the plot can easily be fixed.
