"Your drink?" Amelia's voice was hoarse and unpleasant sounding due to her injury and although she tried to hide it, that did her not a lot good, "This is what I ordered, a medium black iced coffee." She crossed one arm over her chest with her drink in the other hand and swirled it around. She was truly in no mood to argue about what was her drink. She did, however, notice the ice was rather light...

Justin nodded his head at her response, "Yeah, that is literally what I ordered." He let out a sigh, wondering how it went all down like this. At the rate this was going, this became the most stressful encounter he had in the past fifteen days. "Look," he said, pondering his words carefully as to not insult the woman in any way, "I got mine with light ice. What about you?" Thinking about it, to judge the ownership of the drink based on the number of ice cubes seemed foolish, but what choice did he have without trying to offend her?

Amelia stopped swishing her drink and hesitated for just a moment, "I didn't order light ice..." She didn't want to look foolish and her stubborn attitude continued, "This is a new establishment, for all we know they give everyone light ice." Stupid! The second she said that she realized how incredibly dumb she sounded. She hastily piped in, "I'll take-" and suddenly she could feel a cough coming, she quickly yanked out a handkerchief and coughed into it. When she looked into the cloth there was blood on it. Amelia put the handkerchief back into her pocket and looked embarrassed but regained her composure promptly.

The woman made a valid point. Perhaps for the grand opening, they gave everyone less ice. That only made Justin feel sillier asking the barista for light ice at the register. Regardless, that was overpassed when all of a sudden the woman in front of him would temporarily have a moment of weakness. For a moment, Justin stood watching as a bystander before his proper instincts kicked in and moved to help the woman. He did not lay a hand on her, but he bent himself down to her level to check up on her. "Are you alright?" he would ask. At this point, he no longer cared about the drink, "I'm sorry. You can keep the drink, but I just wanna make sure you're okay."

Amelia swallowed the blood that was in her mouth and she felt the need to get the blood completely out of her mouth but she did not want to spit as she viewed that as rude, so she took a small sip of the black coffee... and she found it to be gross... she would much prefer a sweeter coffee like warm mocha. And then she wondered why she didn't just order that as it was cold out. Iced? Really? She realized how silly that was. Amelia let out a scoff. The scoff was not entirely directed toward the man but mostly at herself. She then finally said bluntly, "Yeah... I'm fine." She didn't deserve that kindness from a complete stranger who knew nothing about her, nonetheless, she thanked him, "Thanks..."

Justin caught a glimpse of the blood that had spilled out from the woman's mouth. He thought to himself if she was ill. He stood back up right, towering her by a smidge. Justin was not that tall, and neither was the woman. He had his arms out as if he was ready to jump in and save the woman at any given moment were it to happen again. However for now, she seemed fine, yet he could not shake off the feeling that later, she might not be so. By this point, Justin had completely forgotten about the coffee and had his mind only on the woman and her safety. After all that had happened in the past few weeks, it was no surprise that survivors were feeling the aftermath symptoms, even if they did not have any physical injures. That was what Justin thought at least. He thought about saying something and had shied away in thought for a couple seconds before finally speaking up, "Do you have somewhere you need to go? I've got some time right now, and, I think, I'd much rather spend it, I don't know, escorting you there safe and sound?" It came as a surprise to Justin that he would even initiate a conversation like this; White Night would, but Justin? Justin was much too introverted socialize, never mind the fact that on Halloween day he had tried to go to a party, but those were for 'different' reasons. Justin waited nervously for the woman's answer for what seemed like an hour in his head.

Her apartment was only a five-minute walk down, Amelia had no other plans other than to continue resting and healing. The only way she could do that was with Yjorn at her side and for that, she needed to be alone. Either way, it did not truly matter. Why would she let some stranger take her back to her apartment? Only Ruby had ever even been in her current place and that was once. Amelia lived in Anchorage for the past eight months or so and to her, that wasn't enough time to get to know anybody. And so she replied, "I don't need an escort." Amelia placed her free hand into her pocket and turned away from the man. She all but walked away, going back into aloof mode.

Justin did his best to not make much of the conversation. He had offered, and she had refused. It was as simple as that. As the woman turned to leave, Justin came aware that he would be heading in the same direction as her. Having already suspiciously approached her once, Justin waited out a few minutes before heading down the street again. By now, Justin had forgotten about his coffee, his morning having already started without it, and the conversation with the woman a moment ago had definitely been a nice waking up call for the day.

His next destination was the laundromat own by his Korean uncle. The exterior and even the interior itself would show that it indeed was a normally functioning laundromat. However, one washer stacked on top of another washer would prove itself to be a makeshift door leading into one of the old school elevators, the types where one had to move aside the secondary barred gate behind the main primary gate. No one other than his family knew about the secret location hidden underneath the laundromat, Uncle Lee's Super Shop, a workshop for any superhero related cosmetics.

By the time Justin had entered the laundromat, his uncle was nowhere to be seen, but the store was definitely bustling with people now that the water pipes were functioning throughout the city again, and people could do their laundries. Justin said it was a miracle that apart from the few damages of the laundry machines, his uncle's store remained untouched from the chaos from two weeks prior. However, his uncle knew better than to second guess the fact that it was Justin who had saved it.

At the rear of the laundromat, Justin found the elevator pretending to be washing machines. Into the pad where one would usually input the washing options, Justin pressed several switches before finally twisting the large knob in the middle fully to the right. In doing so, the elevator door slowly hissed open, and somehow, no one seemed to be aware of the man walking into a washing machine. Upon entering, the elevator shut itself as it automatically made its way down into the ground to the workshop.

Justin would find his uncle there, already hard at work. Through his security cameras, he had already saw him coming, so it had been no surprised to the uncle that Justin would be here. Justin could see that his uncle was working on something, but Justin could not see as he had his back towards him. Flashes of spark would scatter across from his uncle, indicating he might be working on something metallic.

    "Uncle," Justin greeted him.

"Justin!" his uncle called back, his attention still on his work.

"Uncle, I was wondering if you could wash these for me," Justin said approaching his uncle as he retrieved his backpack from his back and pulled out his dirtied suit. "And I also had a question about something that I know you've studied in your youth."

"Of course! Anything for the savior of Anchorage," his uncle praised as he had finally put down the thing he was working on and turned to look at his nephew. His uncle was the younger brother of Justin's father and the youngest of the five siblings he grew up with, and also the only one without a superpower. However, his uncle never let his lack of power bring him down as he found other ways to be of use to support the super family.

Justin laughed at his uncle's response, "Is that they're calling me now? Jeez." Justin put down the suit in front of his uncle without a word, knowing his uncle will do the rest without a hitch. "But yeah, I was wondering if you knew anything about summons? I don't know exactly." Justin pondered for a moment on how to explain it before continuing, "The opponent I fought that night. She could summon creatures from out of nowhere. Not just one, but so many. So I'm wondering, uncle. Is this what we call magic, some like Infinity Stone type stuff? Or is there some scientific explanation for this phenomenon? Like... Multidimensions? Wormholes? Quantum teleportation? Black holes?"

Amelia cozied up in her bed with her king-sized comforter. Her room consisted mostly of black: a black lamp that kept the room rather dim at night, a black rug by her twin-sized bed, a black cat tapestry with satanic symbols... not that she was a satanist or anything, she simply loved the goth aesthetic which somehow included satanic decoration. And that is why her wardrobe also consisted of a lot of greys and black and her apartment overall was rather dark and brooding. She lifted her head from the blanket and made an exasperated noise as she got herself out of bed and made it to the living room where her television was. She didn't have anything fancy, just a medium-sized flatscreen. She grabbed the remote from her somber coffee table and with a click, the machine was on. Shudder was her all-time favorite place to watch one-of-a-kind horror flicks. Amelia had to admit she was a horror junkie, despite her gruesome past involving substantial horror... she was more or less desensitized.

With the television running arguably one of the best horror movies of the 20th century, "The Thing" (1982 version to clarify), Amelia nonchalantly made her way into the kitchen; she could not help but think about Halloween night again. Initially, she felt she had failed but as she thought about it she realized she had done wonderfully. The entire League had taken a massive fall and so did the whole city of Anchorage and further than that. There were sacrifices made but those souls were not plunged in vain and all would be forgiven. With time. With time...

Her kitchen was pretty basic, aside from not having a dishwasher, it had all the necessities one could need. She began to brew a simple concoction of chamomile, peppermint, and a tiny bit of a medicinal tincture - good for chronic pain as it relaxed her senses and gave her a little reprieve. Amelia quickly fixed her hot drink and returned to the living room where "The Thing" was still playing. She thought for a moment to put on the news but on reflection, she decided against it. She hadn't put on the news all month and she wasn't about to now. She avoided it, at all costs... until she was ready to meet the opinions of others. They always put her on edge, the criticisms. It was pathetic really. She couldn't even face them, not even after a whole month. Amelia scoffed and slowly began to drink her tea.

Her jet-black hair quivered in the wind as Amelia rode her bike at rather a high speed of 25 miles per hour down a near-empty road. The library wasn't much further now, just another right and she was there. Her outfit for today was quite usual when it came to her job as a page. Amelia locked up her bike and headed inside.

She was immediately greeted by the librarian, "Oh my God, Amelia." Her name was Kayla and she looked quite young to be a librarian but she was over a decade older than Amelia. She was kind and considerate and Amelia appreciated that. Although it took a few months, Kayla grew on her and she would leave the library unscathed along with her other coworkers. Sure it could look suspicious that she left certain things untouched... but she highly doubted anyone would put two and two together because nobody truly knew her. Obviously. Kayla continued in a whisper now, "Can you believe this past month? It's completely insane."

Amelia whispered in turn, "It is well believed." Patrons walked into the library with some hesitation as today was the first day it finally reopened but Kayla greeted them with a huge smile and warm welcome. Amelia didn't say anything else as she waltzed past Kayla without another word. It would be fair to admit that Amelia had, well, asocial traits. She was fairly distant from others, she didn't enjoy conversation with strangers whatsoever, she was low-key hostile when others asked what she believed to be stupid questions... etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.

She mostly stayed in the back doing desk work which was not usual for a page, however, Amelia received reasonable accommodations due to her mental health and her work week consisted of twenty hours - she even had section 8 housing, which was not at all a bad thing. Simply something she needed. Amelia spent the next four hours typing for the most part which didn't help the pain in her fingers.

The night was icy cold and as the snow fell from the sky, Amelia swiftly adorned a long and puffy black coat. She could feel the frigidness in her bones. She looked up at the moon and stars and allowed her mind to wander. Her expression was rather blank but inside she could feel a stir of emotion. The park she walked was desolate and near-silent - since she arrived in Anchorage, Amelia had been going to this particular park when she needed air, mostly because it was free of almost anything. She didn't have to summon Yjorn or Anakee or Tredge... she didn't have to hear their bickering or the noise of people and their manmade bullshit. It was just her and the wilderness, but it was a public park also. And one that very rarely saw any visitors. Wildlife could be heard and she enjoyed that. All that was there was a lone swing set, a river nearby, trees all around, and the title of the park. It was somewhat of a ride out of town so she would summon herself and her bike about a mile out, away from the main road. That was her routine at least once a week.

    And suddenly...

    Mroewww...

Amelia glanced around until she heard the noise again. This time shorter.

    Mroeww...

Her heart sped up and immediately her mind was on finding where the sound was, knowing it was a cat. It sounded hurt or lost... abandoned... Amelia used a flashlight because although she may be powerful she certainly couldn't see in the dark.

Later that same day, Justin had returned home after having visited his uncle's laundromat. His suit was patched up, looking like a brand new one. Through the power of three-dimensional printing, his uncle was able to create anything (bound by the laws of physics, of course). And by the time he had returned to his apartment, he had thrown his backpack onto the couch as he sat next to it while switching on the television.

There wasn't much to surf through on the television, most of them still broadcasting the recent havoc with the Demoness, but Justin tuned into one of the news channels any way to get an insight on what everybody else knows so far. As the entire world witnessed the catastrophic event caused, governments across the globe went into full defense mode in preparation for the next imminent attack. Some third world parties also began hiring vast numbers of super mercenaries, this one not in self-defense but taking advantage of the recent turmoil to topple their country's government. Soon following the Halloween bloodshed, the world turned their faith to the supers. Not before long, statues were erected many halls in commemoration of well-known superheroes as their symbols were also plastered everywhere, including White Night, in hopes that doing so will grant them protection from evil.

Justin had turned off the television by the time he realized they were only covering the aftermaths of the incident. He wanted to know what new information they had about the Demoness only to find that everyone had stopped talking about her especially, only covering everything else that followed in her wake. Surely, the government, especially the American one, was researching more about the Demoness. After all, it wasn't her first debut. They most definitely had more information about the Demoness, they had to. But now, it was a matter of how he was going to acquire those information.

Lost in thought, it was past dinnertime by the time Justin had realized how much time he had spent daydreaming. Devising his plan on properly infiltrating the Pentagon would have to wait another day. He had snapped himself up out of the couch as he felt hungry and wanted to grab himself a meal. He had plenty of ingredients to cook himself a homecooked meal, but he instead decided to go downstairs and outside to the hotdog stand in front of his building. Certainly, it wasn't much, so he ordered himself four hotdogs.

Once the vendor was paid, handsomely with a nice tip, Justin made his way down the street as he would eat while traversing. And once more, he would lose himself in his own thought, returning to figuring out how he was going to get himself inside one of the country's most secure places. Not to mention, this was all in his head, and Justin actually had no idea if they had any information regarding the Demoness. However, if the news broadcasts weren't going to speak about anything related to her, then Justin thought it was fair to assume that they were being hushed by the government, meaning the government had something to hide. Probably. When do they not have something to hide, Justin thought.

Eventually, Justin had wandered himself into a park several blocks from his apartment. As he had finished the last bite of his dinner and thrown the paper wrappings into the trash, he heard rustling from a bush nearby. He wasn't startled, knowing it was likely a wild animal, perhaps a squirrel or a cat, and normally he would not be drawn to it, but this time, he took an interest in whatever was skittering around in the shrub. Tiptoeing carefully and near silently, Justin crouched and leaned towards the bush when a tiny black blob leaps out from it, missing Justin's head by an inch.

"Hey!" Justin cried out as the small blackness vanished deeper into the park. Strangely, Justin felt drawn to it, and he could not explain why. Whether curiosity got the better of him or not, he needed to find the silhouette. Justin began to sprint after it, in normal speed. Easily, Justin could catch the thing, but what was the fun in that? After all that'd been happening recently, Justin would rather be normally for one night. "Get back here!"
