Just received the news that RPA will survive to see 2024, and to celebrate, here are some of the RP ideas that have been bouncing around in my brain (new and recycled alike)! Take a look, vote for your favorites (multiple votes ARE allowed), and I'll start up an OOC thread for the winner in June!
Spoiler: The Children of Earth (Lovecraftian-Style SciFi/Fantasy)It all started at a military research outpost deep in the forests of Arizona, with a series of top-secret genetic experiments collectively known as the Zosimos project. As the project demonstrated greater and greater success throughout its development, the end results began to have worsening impacts on the surrounding environment, for reasons unknown. Unbeknownst to the researchers on the project, this greatly angered the nature spirits who inhabited the forest, until finally they decided to seek revenge.
But their vengeance did not quite go as planned. The nature spirits combined their magic into a powerful storm, just as the prototype of the Zosimos Beam was being tested. The forces of science and magic clashed violently with each other, destroying much of the outpost, but also accidentally bestowing the power of the elements of nature onto four individuals who, for one reason or another, just happened to be nearby when the clash happened.
With their new powers over earth, air, fire, and water, these individuals stand at a crossroads between the worlds of man and nature. Now they truly are Children of Earth.
And with an intergalactic war threatening to catch Earth in the crossfire, it seems Earth may call its Children to action sooner than they realize.
Spoiler: The Ink of Aidoneus (Fantasy/Horror)Centuries ago, a medieval alchemist calling himself Aidoneus (“the Unseen One”) received an unlikely gift from a meteor that landed outside his home. The meteor was made up entirely of a precious life-giving mineral from the farthest reaches of space, which Aidoneus believed to hold the secret to immortality. Determined to protect the meteor’s secrets from rival alchemists and bloodthirsty inquisitors, Aidoneus took to breaking it down into smaller pieces to hide in empty bottles of writing ink. One such bottle, however, turned out not to be so empty after all, and out climbed a small blob-like creature made entirely of ink. Ecstatic at his discovery, Aidoneus fed the creature even more ink and experimented further with the other pieces of the meteor. With the slightest thought, he could command whole armies of the ink creatures to assume whatever shape he wished, easily hiding them from his enemies.
Keeping just enough of the original mineral for himself, Aidoneus lived on for centuries, eventually buying an ink factory in the 1980’s for the sole purpose of creating more mineral-imbued ink…
Until, in a seemingly minor slip-up, the mineral found its way into the ink supply of an unsuspecting tattoo parlor.
Upon realizing the oversight, Aidoneus burned with rage at the sight of the garish designs painted with HIS INK onto the bodies of the tattoo parlor’s clients. Those ignorant fools don’t realize the power they keep carelessly embedded in their skin: power that was always meant for him and him alone!
Summoning his ink-creatures to his side, Aidoneus ordered them to find the thieves and take back what was rightfully his, at any cost, regardless of who or what stands in his way.

Imhotep was gone for good.
But the evil legacy of the Hom-Dai lives on.

The Nazis have recently learned about Imhotep and the curse that gave him his powers, and now they want that power for themselves. With an army of soldiers wielding the power of Imhotep, the Nazi forces would be unstoppable.
The Medjai, the sacred guardians of the immense supernatural powers within Egypt, are now hopelessly caught in the middle. Severely weakened after the Battle of Ahm Shere, and unaccustomed to taking sides in political conflicts, the Medjai remain equally wary of both sides of this war, seeking only to keep the magic they guard out of the hands of those who would abuse it. Nevertheless, the Nazis have made no attempt to respect the Medjai’s neutrality. The Medjai know the secrets of the Hom-Dai, and for that, they must yield to the Nazis’ will or face utter extinction.

Now, as the only ones with any real experience in dealing with the Hom-Dai, Rick and Evy have been dispatched to Egypt once again to thwart the Nazis’ plans and finally put a permanent stop to Imhotep’s curse.
Spoiler: Merlin: The Modern Sagas (Modern Continuation of BBC's MerlinThe year is 2025. Centuries have passed since the tragic demise of King Arthur Pendragon, and the world Merlin knew as a young man has changed drastically over the years. The kingdom of Camelot, in which dwelt the heart and soul of a newly-unified Albion, slowly faded into the realms of myth, its people remembered nowadays for such legendary figures as King Arthur, Queen Guinevere, and the Knights of the Round Table. The power of the once-mighty Old Religion, which was drastically diminished even before King Arthur's reign, has long since been reduced to almost nothing, giving way to the advent of scientific progress as well as the introduction of Christianity and other such religious beliefs. Yet despite these changes, Arthur's hopes for the land of Albion were not for naught; Albion, now known to the world as Great Britain, stands proudly as part of a single thriving kingdom in the European continent.
But even in these modern times, remnants of Albion's magical past still survive. Merlin, now an elderly man, currently resides in the small town of Glastonbury near what was once the fabled Lake of Avalon, living in content obscurity despite the legends that have immortalized him in the minds of men. He remains vigilant even to this day, having been told long ago of Arthur's destiny to return from the dead when his beloved Albion should need him again.
That time is approaching fast. Camelot's greatest enemies are fated to return in the modern age, to a world that has long since forgotten about true magic...
...or how to defend itself against it.
Spoiler: Afterlife (Ghosts/Supernatural)Welcome.
You’re probably wondering where you are, or how you came to be here. Perhaps you already understand. Or perhaps you at least suspect what has just happened to you.
Either way, I’m afraid there’s no easy way to explain this.
You are now dead.
No, this is not a nightmare, or one of those near-death experiences where you’ll simply wake up and carry on.
You are permanently, definitively dead. Your mortal life come to an end. I know that may be difficult for some of you to accept, but such is the nature of death itself.
But this is not the end for you. At least, it doesn’t have to be.
Mortal beings are meant to die naturally once their time has come, and not a moment sooner or later. However, life and death are not always that simple in practice. Fatal accidents, murders… all too often, mortals die before their time, just as you have.
Now, before you ask, you are already too far beyond the point of no return. Now was not your time, but unfortunately, returning to your mortal life is no longer an option. You can, however, remain here on Earth a bit longer if you wish.
I know of a way to make good use of the time you’ve lost.
I am Aidoneus. I was a mortal man once, but like you, I perished before my time. But as my spirit wandered, I discovered the full extent of the evils that dwell in the spiritual realms: evils that threaten the living, even as they remain unaware. Some of these evil spirits are too powerful for us to deal with; even in death, we are still humans. But we can at least do what we can to protect the living, given our unique position on Earth. I’ve already assembled a number of wandering souls willing to do precisely that, but as we each eventually cross over, we must always reach out for whatever help we can find.
That said, you are not as powerless as you may think. You are already dead and can no longer die in the mortal sense, nor are you susceptible to any mortal disease, injury, or pain. Your current ‘condition’ has certain other advantages as well; by drawing from the energy sources around you, you can change the temperature around you, appear and disappear as you see fit, pass through solid objects as if through air, and sense things that living humans cannot. And as your spirits grow in power, other abilities may gradually manifest as well.
So what say you? Will you join us in this effort?
