Hello RPA! We have some very exciting news for you!
RPA has gone through various iterations on different servers and the time is coming for our next big move, which will be to transfer from vBulletin to Jcink. The staff have been examining ways to increase membership and to keep maintenance costs low, so that we can keep this community running for the long term, and we hope that this move will do both. The planned date for the move is the 1st of August.
This site has a long history and a lot of sentimental value to everyone involved, and so we want to be careful to preserve RPs past and present, and all the other treasured memories that our members have on here. One difference between vBulletin and Jcink is that the latter does not support blogs or groups, therefore we will be creating sub-forums for people to copy their blogs, as well as any other content they wish to preserve in the forum move. To make things easier, we will also be suspending the creation of new blogs from the 2nd of June.
After the move it will still be possible - though quite time consuming - for staff to retrieve legacy blogs from database backups, but in the interests of making life easier for our moderators, please make sure you have posted (or otherwise saved) anything you want to keep that is not in a forum thread in good time before the move.
Other things that will not be transferred across to Jcink is as follows:
- Reputation (don’t worry, we’ll remember how awesome you are)
- Private Messages (at the bottom of your inbox there is an option to “download all” - use this to save them for posterity)
- Visitor Messages (We recommend that you screenshot your conversations!)
- Avatars (save these somewhere if you want to re-upload them on Jcink)
- Signatures (as above)
There may be other things not on the above list; in general, we cannot confirm that anything that is not a thread post will be transferred, therefore please take steps to save offline (or convert into posts in the soon to be provided sub-forums) anything that you want to keep.
