Set thousands of years in our future, the universe as we known it has changed. With the death of Humanities god and the rise of dozens of others, humanity now co-exists with hundreds of different alien and galactic communities though Humanity itself does not have a homeworld in the traditional sense. With the disappearance of Golorian and the rise of the Starfinder society, the biggest question on every scholars mind is thus: What happened to Golorian.
Enter Humanities other homeworld: Earth, at the far northern interstellar regions of our galaxy lies the Terran Federation, their homeworld thought lost when Golorian dissapeared as well, existing as the capital of the Terran Khanate. Their discovery set off waves of interest in their society through the interstellar community until they began the invasion of the Veskarium. Violent, warmongering and Totalitarian, the interests of the Terran Khanate were those of expansion and to destroy all opposing groups.
You brave men and women are part of Emperium's first retaliation detachment, sent to begin liberation of one of the worlds the Terran Khanate has taken over. Most of you are criminals or volunteer's, gang-pressed into action for crimes you committed or debt's you owe to others. In other words, your disposable, but if you manage to retake the world and make a name for yourself, all debts are cleared and all crimes forgiven. You will even be given honorary station and a handful of credits to support you and your newfound freedom.
Live or die, nobody cares. But your fate is your own and this is your chance to be more than just another corpse in a cell back where you came from.
Spoiler: Information
Spoiler: The Veskarium
The Veskarium refers to the eight-planet solar system that the militant vesk rule. The scaly race evolved on the planet closest to the sun, and from the beginning they easily cowed the bands of cave-dwelling snake-people, jackal-faced arthropods, and even stranger creatures there. This planet provided rich natural resources, an abundance of dry land, and beasts of war. However, its people hungered for even more power.
Eventually, vesk took to space. They called their home Vesk Prime and renamed and numbered the subsequent planets farther from the sun as they overran them. The result is the Veskarium, a vast empire with a wide array of subjects. This includes the stonefaced squidfolk of Vesk-2, the antlike beings of Vesk-5, the feline humanoid barbarians of Vesk-6, and the pacifist frost behemoths of Vesk-7 and Vesk-8.
Vesk rule from enormous military bases that double as governmental headquarters situated in key positions on each planet. A high despot rules each planet, forming a council that makes decisions for the Veskarium at large. Though their laws are autocratic, vesk see both themselves and their society as deeply honorable. They strive to provide their citizens with a high standard of living, though their societal structures are unforgiving and they inherently view non-vesk as inferior.
Spoiler: The Terran Khanate
Generations before the Khanate emerged, Humanity on Earth was a splintered series of factions, divided by race, creed and culture. They waged wars and squandered natural resources for petty reasons. They would have nearly destroyed themselves had the Khanate not emerged.
For hundreds of years, the Khanate waged wars, systematically killing off troublesome populations and individual groups who would not conform to the ideal society that the first Khan, Tar Zephon had thought of. Eugenics were a popular method of robbing individual cultures of their social and physical identities and before long, they had united the Earth clans into a singular entity that did not severely differ from physical appearance, the Terran Federation. Not content with being the victims of another division, took to the stars and began to systematically impose their will on planets through military might and domination.
The Khanate now rules three separate star systems and boast martial domination over twenty planets and fleets of over a thousand ships. While much and more of that remains to be confirmed, they possess strange and powerful technologies that surpass even the strongest energy weapons ship-builders the galaxy over has to offer.
They are a fascist warrior society now and while the current Khan does favor humanities subjects more than others, he values all races who commit themselves in full to the Khanate. He values ability over lineage and title and will offer power and position to those that deserve it, who have earned it by spilling the blood of the weak and strong alike.
Spoiler: Squad 7
Squad 7 is the group you shall be a part of. As a player, these assignments are relatively permanent and will not be changed. You can thank the idiot who tried before you and was flayed alive by a vesk for disobedience in front of everyone.
The Captain - Available. Captain must be a Vesk. He begins play with said rank in the Veskarium Military.
The Warrior - Available
The Pilot - Airman First Class Sarnai Tairakh
The Specialist - Available
The Spellcaster - Available
Even if all these spots are filled, you can still participate as a grunt. Your stats will be calculated slightly differently from the way PC's are made.
All other main player characters begin with the rank of conscript.
Your uniforms are red and black and aside from blades of your choice, all weapons provided at character creation must be laser based.
Spoiler: The story so far. . .
Your a member of squad 7, or unlucky 7 as the commanders refer to it. Your captain who is a Vesk upstart was given the task of seeing non-vesk to victory and your air-support is a defiant rebel who was gang-pressed into service years back. Members of squad 7 are unlucky for they usually get the worst and most dangerous assignments.
Squad's one through twenty, the fist regiment, have been dispatched to vesk 2 as the vanguard to probe the Terran Federations strengths and weaknesses and their first task is to take an Outpost in route to a city they are supposed to take with the first regiment, Vokeru. They expect moderate to heavy resistance and for the operation to go for a month. They deploy today with reinforcements only a week away outside of the immediate regiment.
Its no secret the military annalists think that the operation will take half a year, but the government has seen fit to deploy troops early and to bring in more veteran troops once a beachhead has been established and better plans are made.
