Name: Rathas Varisan IV

Age: 100. He celebrated this landmark birthday just a few months ago.

Gender: Male

Race: Ronan

Appearance: A fit and healthy Ronan in his early middle ages, Rathas has short crimson hair that is beginning to fade to orange at the temples, and a strong-boned face with copious frown lines. He has four arms, with the latter pair sat below and slightly forward of the first, and they are also slightly shorter. His primary hands are human-form, while the second pair each have two long fingers and two opposing thumbs. The dress uniform of his fleet is a high collared, double-breasted tunic coloured the dark purple of Ronan blood. This is matched with trousers of the same colour and flat-soled boots.

Equipment: Rathas carries a ceremonial plasma blade, but it is purely for show. He commands his invasion fleet from the Nova class battleship Corrisul (trans: "Vigilant").

Personality: As a commander he is humane to his own men, and ruthless to his opponent. As a man he loves his family, believes in his sacred duty to the Empress and the Ronan people, and absolutely will not stop until every last human is struck from the face of the galaxy.

History: Rathas was born on Arajigar, one of the teeming colony worlds of the Ronan Empire's inner sphere, to Rathas Varisan III and Kerisa Scarresan VI. Despite being the fifth child born, Rathas was the first male and so by tradition carried on his father's line and name. In a society where the average lineage lasts eight generations, where the most venerable families can trace theirs back for dozens - or even hundreds - and where hundreds of new lineages are created every day, a fourth generation firstborn is perhaps nothing special. Nevertheless, Rathas Varisan IV has carved out a name for himself among the Ronan Empire. Following in his father's footsteps, he joined the Integrated Warfare Officer Corps at 45, looking at the bigger picture of modern warfare and learning how to conduct campaigns both on the ground and in space. He showed a prodigious talent, and rose through the ranks of the Ronan military to become one of the 5 Imperial generals tasked with the human extermination campaign.

He married Lithia Jarrosan II forty three years ago, and they have since had eight children. As with all Ronan families, the firstborn of each gender carries on their mother or father's family name, and the others are free to begin their own dynasties. His eldest, Rathas V, now commands his own fleet squadron from the Sun class battleship Dekinel II and is participating in the attack on the Argatheans. The twins - Coris and Lithia III, who have always been exceptionally close - both serve in their father's fleet. Lithia III captains the cruiser Sereti VII and Coris, who was born with two arms and two legs and thus ideal to wear a battlesuit, commands the same ship's marines, who will no doubt participate in the seige of Mars. Of Rathas' younger children Ras is an engineer, Kerisa a doctor, and Fara, Caira and Catharas are still at school. He is proud of all of them.

While general Opisan smashes through Pluto and Uranus to lay siege to Titan, Rathas Varisan has split off with his own invasion fleet, codenamed Force H, and forged ahead through the asteroid belt. He has already captured the transport hub of Ceres and is using it as a base to keep the human home fleet bottled up near Mars, providing a constant threat so that they cannot move to intervene in the siege of Titan. Attacking Mars itself however presents a problem, as the fleet combined with ground-based missile defences have already driven off his first probing attacks.

Only note, a Ronan with only 2 arms and legs is usually looked as a failure cause they look too much like other races.

Captain Alicia Mathers

Age: 52, but thanks to advances in medicine, looks barely out of her 30s.

Equipment: As one of the highest ranking surviving officers in the UN Spacey, Alicia is equipped to a high standard, and her battlecruiser, the Warspite
is one of the most fearsome ships left to the UN fleet. It also a high prize for the Ronan Navy, one for which an entire star system would be bequeathed by the Empress if it could be destroyed, or better yet, captured.

Personality: Captain Alicia Mathers is best described as a harridan. Or possibly a termagant. She rides her subordinates hard, every day, she never relents, never backs down and never, ever gives up. She lost her son to the Ronans above Epsilon Indi, and her husband two weeks later to the fleet that attacked Ceres. She has worked with the UN to ensure her ship is crewed with those who share her views: that the only good Ronan is a dead Ronan.

History: Alicia comes from the Luna colony, and grew up around warships, as Luna and its stations are one of the primary bases of the UN. Now its the only one left. She met her husband in the academy, and they both rose through the ranks together. Alicia was happily retired having raised a son, when her 18 year old boy was killed by the Ronans. She immediately reapplied for a commission, and her husbands contacts got her the commission of the Warspite, a newly refitted colony class Battlecruiser. With the losses of good officers and ships to the fleet, someone with Alicias service history was desperately needed, and she rose to the occasion, fuelled by vengeance and a desire to make the Ronans pay.
She is already probing the region around Ceres, scouting out task force 'H' and launching spoiling attacks where possible. Last week she ambushed the Ronan Nova class battleship Devisalar (The Watchman), hoping to catch the leader of Task force H. Instead, she initiated a boarding action and shot the crippled battleships captain on his own bridge while he was desperately calling for reinforcements from Admiral Rathas Varisan IV. She then told the Admiral that he had come a long way to get his ass kicked, and personally vowed to wipe him, and his whole species, from the known cosmos. The relief force found the Devisalar a gutted wreck, and the asteroid field littered with nuclear mines that cost the Ronans another 2 frigates and crippled a heavy cruiser.

The Warspite.

A battlecruiser designed with high speed, firepower and adequate defence in mind, the Warspite is one of the few surviving colony class ships left in service, and has developed a fearsome and unique reputation for itself, one that far outclasses its actual capabilities. Equipped and built to the highest standard of the UN Navy, the Warspite has claimed several notorious prizes and then gone out of its way to humiliate the prideful Ronans at every turn, making it an objective that far outweighs its actual strategic value. Combined with the devious and vengeful mind of Captain Mathers, the Warspite has become a peerless ambush predator and stalker, only atacking in favourable circumstances and then fleeing, damage done to both war materiel and pride.

Aerospace assets carried: operates a flight of six Maiden pattern interceptors, 2 shuttles, 6 assault boats, one captains yacht. The hanger was expanded in the last refit to accommodate the Maidens magnetic launch catapult.

Computer systems: The ship is practically a character in its own right, represented by Hermione, a mid range (tier 2) tactical and weapons AI that manifests as a prim and proper English schoolgirl. Hermione manages the many anti-aerospace weapons, communications and sensor data for the Warspite, and offers advice from her history data banks. She also protects the vessel from information attacks by the Ronans, and also assists in signal interception and decryption to help plan Captain Mathers raids. said to have been programmed with a 'mean streak a mile wide', Hermione bears her own grudge against the Ronans, as her digital creche was destroyed on Epsilon Eridani, making her the last of her kind.

Actually. . .its a double reference. A previous Warspite was named the Hermione at first.
