Name: Sentinax Beta-Unit 440 'Cicero'
Species: Sentinax
Age: 120 Earth Years
Appearance:
Cicero looks exactly alike the majority of other Sentinax Beta Unit forms.
Department: Science Division
Role and Rank (if any): Sentinax Observer; Precursor Tech Expert; Conduit to Birth
Personal Equipment: None, all his research is held within his systems.
Character Strengths: Cicero is one of the many Beta Units that aren't built for battle, but instead made for researching new Precursor ruins when they are found. Responsible for creating the brand new Precursor inspired Capital Ships of the Sentinax Armada, and also responsible for having a physical presence in the testing of the new Hardlight Shield Systems, Cicero is perfectly built for research and logical theory. Whilst not as useful as higher Beta units, such as Primordus, who is built for both roles and more, Cicero offers a Sentinax perspective aboard the vessel.
As a Beta Unit, Cicero also has the advantage of living on within the Sentinax Servers incorporated into the Elcano if his physical form is destroyed.
Character Weaknesses: Cicero as such isn't built as a combat unit at all. He could make his way around a weapon for sure, but would be largely useless in a combat engagement for proper fighting.
If Cicero's physical form was destroyed, he would need to find another or would be confined to the ships mainframe, where whilst he would be useful, he would become another in a number of Omega Units aboard the vessel.
What they hope to find: Evidence of the Precursors in the different galaxy, as the Sentinax continue to grind forward on their path to follow them.
What they hope to achieve in the New Galaxy: A solid report to the 64 Sentinax Alpha-Units back in the Milky Way of the new Galaxy's findings, so that when the Concert inevitably make a move to colonise said galaxy, the Sentinax will have a plan of the systems most rich in Precursor artefacts (As the Sentinax have no need to squabble over Garden Worlds).
Bio: Cicero was born into the world by the 51st Sentinax Alpha-Unit, named "Triumph" after the destruction and re-application of the Charkess species and their homeworld of Chardon, now rechristened 163. With Triumph belonging to the Charkess species and having been impregnated with Sentinax consciousness and technology by Birth's mental touch - the process of creating Alpha Units being built around the discovery of powerful supercomputers with or without personal intelligence on processed worlds and integrating them with Sentinax Software - his Beta-Units reflected many of their attitudes, being bookish and scientific to a tee. The Charkess had been a race who had swiftly moved out of their world to colonise the rest of their system, the Cradleworld of Chardon having aided them in going from the equivalent of the Industrial Era to the Pre-FTL Era within 50 Years. Once they reached another world, the Sentinax discovered them and deployed the World-Forge 'Jormungandr' and converted the planet in its entirety.
Whilst Triumph joined the ranks of the other Sentinax Alpha-Units, to be taught by Birth of all the greatness of their cause, the new Beta-Units, Cicero included, were set to the task of going over the massive cache of Precursor artefacts laying deep in the worlds crust, some even at the bottom of Chardon's oceans; an actual Atlantis in some ways, as many of these artefacts were still functioning, indicating Chardon as a post-terraformed Precursor colony world. As legions of Beta-Units picked over the artefacts, the useless pieces being sent to be refined down into Precursinium, the parts that were important - examples of Precursor weaponry, fragments of Precursor space vessels and artefacts of cultural importance - were sent directly off world towards Sentinax processing plants.
Cicero was eventually given orders by Triumph to join another group of exemplary Omega and Beta Units on a research project that would forward Sentinax technology by decades. This was the project of creating ships such as The Hand of Birth, which was inspired by Precursor designs, hence it lacking typical Sentinax construction features. It was in this project unit that Cicero spent his time, until the Concert War, where he and his research group were asked to puzzle over the Hardlight Shields, uncracking the tech and improving on the poor yet resourceful Ourobouros designs within a month.
After the Concert War, Cicero did much of the same, spending his time going over Precursor artefacts as the Sentinax slowly expanded outwards and away from Concert Space, like a tendril of Birth's will out into the unexplored parts of space. Eventually, he was called up by Birth to be personally sent with the Elcano to the new Galaxy, Birth's intentions unsaid but assumed by the Beta Unit.
