2776. The First Extrasolar war is ongoing between the Alliance, composed of the Unified Earth Governments and the Skratan Kingdom, against the Vrikan Empire. The Vrikan Empire is intent on enslaving both humanity and the skrata. Forge chains or break them. The choice is yours in the War of Subjugation.

Spoiler: Regarding you, the players
1. Characters can be killed, but only in extreme circumstances (If another character points a gun right at your character's head, and pulls the trigger, your character will not survive, simple as that. Otherwise, feel free to write so that your character can survive. If your character is all alone, however, it's entirely possible for your character to be captured by an overwhelming enemy force.
2. Again, characters are not gods. Things can be done to them, even if their owner doesn't want it to. They are more likely to survive than an NPC, but not able to do anything and everything. They have weaknesses, and your opponents will exploit this weakness, given the chance.

Spoiler: HistoryHumans have a long history of war, with various reasons behind their conflicts. When nuclear weapons were created, many worried about what the next major conflict might bring. Though nuclear devastation never saw the light of day on Earth, the fear of it occurring was a driving factor in humanity's desire to explore space.
Over several centuries, several of the Sol system's planets were colonized, asteroids were mined, and shipyards, both corporate and military, were established throughout the system. Things were rather stagnant for centuries from there, minor scientific discoveries and technological advancements were made, but the next goal was leaving the system.
Eventually, in 2753, Russian scientists created the first void drive. The navy was the first organization to receive shipboard prototypes. The first jump was from Venus to the Io shipyards. The ship was unable to decelerate quickly enough after exiting Void-Space and was ripped apart. No survivors. The second jump was to the Alpha Centauri system. After four days, the ship arrived safely. After a fleet of warships were equipped with void drives, several colony ships were allowed to have void drives fitted on them.
Several extrasolar colonies were established before making contact with the skrata in 2755. In 2756, President Bishop and King Ku'throk finally agreed to form the Alliance to fight the Vrikan Empire.

Spoiler: HistoryThe skrata weren't always the peace loving people they are today. Their history is one drenched in blood, but for different reasons than those of humanity and the vrika. Cryptum's oceans are neither big nor heavily populated. Beach dwelling tribes were always at war with each other for control of the food supply, and desert dwelling tribes were always fighting over what little water was easily obtained.
The first true kingdoms to be established were either farming communities with ample access to fresh water, or communities that controlled large parts of whatever ocean they were located at. As kingdoms grew, so did their needs, setting all of them, near and far, on the road to war with each other.
The skrata quickly became adept at metal working, and the creation of steel tools, weapons, and armor were among the skratas' first innovations. An ancient skratan superstition held the belief that the better material a tool was made of, the better a user (of any caliber) would perform with the tool. As such, armor and armor-penetrating weapons were highly prized and were always being improved upon.
Though they do not often fall ill, plagues were exceedingly difficult for the skrata to survive before they learned how viruses and harmful bacteria worked. This was due to the availability of food. Rather than focus on medical sciences, the skrata built temples and prayed for bountiful harvests. In addition, they improved farming/fishing techniques (beach-dwelling kingdoms began experimenting with fish farms around this time as well).
Few kingdoms were polytheistic, but those that were, were also among the most powerful. With the food problems becoming less severe, political clashes between kingdoms became more frequent. Eventually, wars similar to the crusades sprung up. The histories of entire civilizations were lost in the fighting.
Eventually, the fighting died down when one religion had been established over the others through bloody military campaigns. Far off in the desert, well away from any kingdoms, warrior monks that had grown tired of violence and established a temple to the gods of one of the weaker religions that was thought to had been extinguished. At some point, the religion that was believed to have been stronger died out, and the religion at the village that came to be known simply as "Temple" became the most widely accepted religion when the skrata advanced further.
An extremely severe drought came over a large portion of Cryptum at the time the skrata were beginning space exploration. Desert cities saw their crops wilt away, and cities that relied on the oceans saw their shorelines recede. Wars revolving around food were seen again for the first time in centuries---This time with much more destructive power. Nuclear weapons were never employed for fear of the land and/or sea losing its bounty.
The skratas' first manned mission to the moon was intended to be one-way, not because they wouldn't be able to come back, but because they planned to terraform the moon into a massive farm. Over the course of several decades, the mission turned out to be a success. The fear of the lunar colonies cutting off the food supply was great, and many nations on Cryptum united to form The Kingdom. The Kingdom kept pressure on the lunar colony to remember why they were there.
Weapons research advanced by leaps and bounds until plasma weapons were standard issue in the military. The research of interplanetary travel was also focused heavily upon, and soon advanced to interstellar travel with the creation of void drives. After several dozen extrasolar colonies were established, first contact was made with the vrika. King Ku'throk sought peaceful interaction from the start, but the vrika quickly declared war on the skrata. After 5 years of war, a skratan colony made contact with a human ship. Both species wanted an ally in space, and for similar reasons. It was evident to humanity that the vrika would not let them live in peace, and the skrata's ongoing war was proof enough for that.
Spoiler: CultureAs a whole, skrata put a high value on tradition. To that end, they have a rigid caste system. Peasants had very few rights; slaves in all but name. The nobility controlled everything. And while a peasant may be able to be elevated to nobility, their children remain peasants, as well as any children they have.

Spoiler: HistoryMuch of recorded vrikan history revolves around the practice of slavery. Strong tribes enslaved weak tribes, strong tribes would wage war with each other, with the losing tribe being enslaved. Eventually, kingdoms and cities sprung up, along with them; clans and the likelihood of contracting lethal diseases.
Disease was one of the few factors that could force a lull in the endless wars. Disease was also a driving factor in technological advancement. It was during a plague that was comparable in severity to humanity's bubonic plague that gunpowder was developed (ironically, the creator was trying to make medicine out of what little was left in stock). Gunpowder (or rather, the technological advancements that came with it and immediately after it) was another of the few factors that could force a lull in the waging of wars.
Though wars still went on, slavers sought intelligent people over physically fit people. The change in desired slaves led to advances in all scientific fields (ballistics, engineering, and medical sciences in particular). This saw to the vrika advancing much more quickly than humanity did. Nuclear weaponry was never popular, and the means to create nuclear weapons (including knowledge) was kept heavily under guard by order of the most powerful clans.
Nuclear power, however, was extremely popular; and heavily guarded. With global energy needs solved for several decades, war died down once again in favor of technological advancement. Though they had satellites in orbit for several decades, vrika hadn't been in space themselves. Upon successfully landing astronauts on each of their three moons, the vrika set about to first colonizing, and then terraforming their moons, then the next nearest planet.
After about a century of minor conflicts, the strongest 18 clans joined to form the empire and the high council. No longer waging war amongst themselves, the vrika set about leaving their solar system. After void drives were developed, extrasolar colonies were established, and eventually first contact was made with the skrata. After only a few weeks of assessing the skrata's strength, the vrika gave them a single chance to surrender everything to the empire. The war went on for years (the vrika severely underestimated the skrata's resolve) before humanity entered the war.
Spoiler: CultureMost vrika are traditionalists, believing that they are the most powerful species, and as such believe that they have a right to enslave species that they believe are inferior. The vrika once had a caste system similar to the skrata, but it faded away when the vrikan industrial revolution came about. Vrika hold the ability to work alone and in a team in exceptionally high regard. There's no place in vrikan society where this is better demonstrated than their militaries.
Another unique fact about vrikan society is their mastery over biological and psychological sciences. Whereas human medical science can restore a broken bone to like-new condition in a month, the vrika can clone a new limb for an amputee. As though their medical marvels weren't enough to minimize the long term effects of non-lethal casualties sustained in battle, vrika can also mold the mind to fit certain "outlooks."

The capitol city lies in a massive valley near the equator, deep in the mountains.

Spoiler: Bio:Karak was born to a single parent. Karak and his mother would've gone hungry most nights if not for financial contributions from an anonymous benefactor. Karak taught himself to be grateful for whomever was supporting his mother, but the month Karak turned old enough to enlist, instead of a deposit of credits in the bank, a pamphlet for the Imperial Navy was found in the mail.
It was obvious what the benefactor had in mind. Karak shipped off to boot camp mere weeks later. He tackled each challenge with an aggressive enthusiasm. His scores were high enough that a special forces team leader took interest in him. Karak was sent on to become an Imperial Spur. He spent months learning advanced CQC techniques, demolitions, guerilla tactics, and more.
Upon graduation, he was assigned to the command of Serro R'ayth. When the War of Subjugation began, Karak was part of many missions, ranging from HVT capture and/or elimination, espionage, sabotaging enemy ships, etc. 15 years into the war, Serro retired from the navy and went on to head the R'ayth clan.
Now commanding his own team, Karak will do anything to help the vrika claim their birthright of conquest.

Spoiler: Bio:Born and raised on Habdonia, working on a farm. Aklato Ker'ra was captured and enslaved by the Vrikan Empire at the age of 17. The slaver that was in charge of her conditioning was known for his special brand of cruelty, and the only reason Aklato was spared from (most of) his cruelty was Serro R'ayth's special order, having hand-picked her and demanded that there be no permanent damage inflicted on her.
Aklato took a liking to Serro, as he treated her fairly. In between operations, Serro would spend much of his free time overseeing Aklato's training, sometimes directly, such as with CQC or stealth techniques, or indirectly, such as sharpshooting. Her first combat mission came after Serro retired, and he loaned her to Karak R'ayth and his new team of commandos.
According to the Empire, Skrata exist to serve. Aklato serves with deadly precision.

Character Bio: Michael Rasputin, a legend in his own time. Raised at his family's Palatial estate deep in the Carpathian mountains, he was raised an educated to be one thing, a Leader of men. Taught the ways of tactic, war, leadership, and how to inspire men, he quickly rose to the head of his household by 18, defeating his aging and weak father in ritual combat.
He obtained a Comission in the Military not long after, joining the Terran Truebloods, an elite regiment of soldiers takes only from the native soil of the mother-world itself, with pedigrees dating back over a century. He proved himself a capable officer and shot through the ranks before eventually becoming the Lord High Marshall (The Colonel) of said regiment. He was eventually Promoted to General of the Armies after a series of successful campaigns.
It was not all victory and parties and glory. He did have a home life, a family, a family whom he loved. What firmly set him on the path he is on was on a fateful Alliance day (a holiday celebrating the alliance between the humans and the Skratans). He Turned on his grill only to have it erupt in a massive explosion and killing his entire family. He survived, somehow, but his body was incredibly damaged and he was sent into a coma.
But it was not the end, they had the technology, they could rebuild him. Better...stronger...faster. And so they did. Michael Rasputin was reborn as a cyborg, out for revenge (for, it was revealed that it was a bomb planted by a Vrikan agent.) Part man, part machine, all ass-kicking cyber-soldier, and he won't stop until the Vrikan empire is forced down onto it's knees.

Bio: Alice Is the youngest daughter of a Noble family from Neo-America. As was custom, she joined the military at seventeen, enlisting as a private and doing a four year tour and going to college, and then to West Point. She graduated in the top nintieth percentile. She was all set to rejoin the regiment started by her ancestors when in the middle of the night she was taken by recruites from the Terran Truebloods.
Like all non-legacy members, she was jumped in. After getting the shit kicked out of her for five minutes, breaking three ribs and knocking out two of the members, she was welcomed as a Trueblood, and brought great honor to her family. She took part in several campaigns where she caught the eye of the current Lord Commander, Michael Rasputin. At his request, she became his aide-de-camp and by her choice chose to carry his standard into war, forgoing her own glory to further his. Spoiler: BackstoryJoerg was born on the frontier colony of Lazria into a family that always seemed to just barely scrape by. The only child of a factory worker and a retired law enforcer, he never started out with many opportunities to begin with. Combine that with the fact that Lazria was still a fringe world, it seemed as though his entire life was laid out in front of him from the very beginning: Blue collar menial work for the rest of his days.
For about half his life, this was true. He spent his days scraping by on whatever jobs he could hold on to. Day in, day out, all day, every day. Each passing year of doing the same thing he's always done since forever whittled away at his resolve. As time went on, he only became more and more stubborn and ornery, like a pressure cooker waiting to explode.
Everything finally changed when one day, he snapped, packed his bags, and left Lazria behind, not once looking back. He ended up drifting around UGE territories doing mostly the same thing for a few more years after that, though, but he eventually found himself enlisting not long after. Needless to say, his strong build, penchant for heavy lifting, and steadfast, get shit done mentality he'd cultivated over most of his life landed him in the role of heavy gunner. His stubborn, aggressive tendencies, though, eventually earned him a number of nicknames among his peers, but out of all of them, only one ever really stuck: "Boar".
Much time has passed since Joerg had joined the force. Some days he still wonders if this is his calling. Little has changed, but he does not tire of the military life. At least not yet.

Ayka was brought up by her eldest brother because both parents had died. she learned a lot from her brother especially when it came to technology and computers. and learned to respect others, and to help people, her brother himself was in the Military and again a highly respected man.
she was 15 when her brother was murdered, right before her eyes.
After the death of her brother she became more interested in Technology and computers but also in weapons, she quickly joined the Military at age 18, and was the youngest and one of the best in terms of Technology. and computers went.
Ayka was not exactly the easiest even though she was very good and faster than the other, she was also very stubborn and often went against the rules, so it did not take long before she left the Military, with some technology from the base and two weapons.

Alicia grew up in a warm and loving family and had a carefree life, but at the age of 11 her famely was killed and she was kidnapped, and was tagged. to serve as a slave.
Alicia has not been an easy slave, she has gone from one master to the other. She tried to fight for her existence, often resulting in physical punishment. she has a very fighting character and does not let herself go crazy, but to stay alive she tries to obey her master
