I’ve been wanting to do a Firefly game for a while, I tried to start this game once before and it never really took off so I thought what the heck let’s try again. Ushima and I will be running it as the GMs but I enjoy player interaction so if you have a plot idea please let us know and we may run with it. We are thinking of running the game from mission to mission kinda like the show did with the episodes so we will start out with our first mission below.
The Unification War ended eight months ago and everyone that was a part of the war now has to move on with their lives. Some people dropped everything and took up arms to fight for what they believed was right whether they were a Purple Belly or a Browncoat. Others helped indirectly and some avoided the war entirely. Regardless of what you did during the war everything changed with Unification.
Our story is going to follow the crew of the Aurora, a Komodo Class ship. The Aurora is known for being a ship that will take almost any sort of job, from transports to heists. Currently the ship is docked on Persephone at the Eavesdown Docks taking on new passengers and a new job. While docked on Persephone the Captain through his connections with the career criminal Badger has come across the information about a corporation building weapons for the Alliance. Rumor has it that Rhycom Industries has been working on a new weapon that will be able to quiet the unrest in the outer rims. Somehow Badger has managed to get his hands on several access badges to the station and a set of blueprints of the station. How Badger came in possession of the badges and plans he isn’t telling. Though he has sold them to the Aurora for a pretty price, Badger has even agreed to put them in connection with a mystery buyer who will only be revealed after the job.
The weapons system is actually a satellite guidance system that will allow the Alliance to position weapons in orbit around outer rim planets. With the Artemis system the weapons will be controlled remotely by the Alliance and could target anything from a specific person or a whole city. It would allow them to remove a problem individually or wipe out an entire city. Either way it is bad news for the people of the outer rim. The satellite itself if far too large to steal, however the control module with all the programming is a round orb about ten inches in diameter.
Spoiler: The Aurora
Type: Komodo Class
Crew: 7-8
Passenger Capacity: 2 (3 if you rent out one of the shuttles.)
Name: Age / Birthdate:The current year is 2511 Ethnicity: Gender: Appearance: Description and / or image Homeworld / Place of birth: https://firefly.wikia.com/wiki/The_Verse Religion:https://firefly.wikia.com/wiki/Religion Weapons:https://firefly.fandom.com/wiki/Weapons Special Qualities:Special powers may be allowed if approved by the GMs but keep in mind not everyone can be a genetically modified super soldier. Role:See list bellow. Opinion on Unification: History: Relationships:This section is for your bonds with the other characters. You will need to reach out to the other players and create a backstory for your characters' history with each other. If you are choosing to just arrive on the ship and not have already been on the ship then add your character's first impression of each of the other characters. Theme Song:Optional
We may accept unlisted roles but they must be approved by one of the GMs. As for how long you have been on the ship that is up to you but keep in mind it has only really been running since the end of the war at least under this captain.
Rules:
1. All the standard RPA rules apply to this game.
2. We want to keep this semi-realistic so no god modding.
3. Player interaction is encourages so co-ops are more than welcome.
4. While player interaction is something we want if you have any drastic plot lines you want to do please run them by the GMs first.
5. Overall we want to have fun.

Another round of bullets hits my skin. Well, fire away
Cause today, I won't let the shame sink in. We are bursting through
the barricades and reaching for the sun.
We Are Warriors
She stands at 5'9 and weighs around 130 pounds with dark brown hair and blue eyes. Despite unity she still wears her brown coat as one little form of rebellion against the Alliance refusing to give it up. Also her clothing is very rugged consisting mostly work clothes that would fit right in on a ranch, down to the red bandana, and Stetson that she always wears.
Due to an injury sustained in the war, Cori has nerve damage on her spine, because of this she has limited use of her right leg and would be a cripple if it wasn't for her hydraulic leg brace. It is a boot with braces that goes all the way to her mid-thigh allowing her to walk. The brace was made with spare parts and is not the most reliable. It is worn on the outside of her pants being too bulky to wear underneath. Her back is covered with scars from a fragmentation mine that exploded near her. There are several bits of fragments still embedded in her spine, which would require very delicate and expensive surgery to remove.
Cori has a look to her of someone that has lived a very hard life which hadn’t been true until the last few years. The war changed her deeply both physically and mentally. She tends to these days always have a scowl on her face and her blue eyes are cold enough to freeze with just a glance. She isn’t the sort of person you would strike up a conversation with if you met her on the street, she is more the sort of person you would cross the street to avoid.
Homeworld / Place of birth: New Cardiff, Londinium
Religion: Buddhism, not a practicing Buddhist and believes her karma is beyond redemption.
Weapons: Pair of Colt Peacemakers and a Winchester rifle.
Special Qualities: She is an excellent marksman and well trained in hand to hand combat. Despite her injuries she is still able to hold her own in a fist fight. Something that happens quite often when they are in port or on world.
Role: First Mate, weapons specialist
Opinion on Unification: Opposed, fought with the Independents.
History: Cordelia was born on Londinium to Hugo and Victoria Sexton growing up in a life of privilege. Her father is an Alliance General and her mother is member of Parliament. When the war broke out her older brother Conrad followed in the path of their father and took a commission with the Alliance. Cordelia was mostly known for being a socialite, living life as one large party. Cordelia did whatever she wanted to despite how it looked or reflected those around her. As a teenager she was thrown out of several boarding schools due to her behavior, much to her parents disapproval. After somehow remaining to stay in a school long enough to graduate Cordelia made no moves to go to secondary school or join a profession, she merely worked the party circuit on Londinium. Her mother urged her to grow up as she was starting to be an embarrassment to the family. It was her father's idea to grant her a commission, thinking military life would straighten her out but that was exactly what it took to push her completely away. The night she was due to ship off to the academy she booked passage on a freighter ship to the Outer Rim enlisting instead in the Independent Army under the name Cori Sutton.
When she first joined she did it merely to irritate her parents but the more time she spent with the Brown Coats she began to realize the differences between the Core and the Outer Rims. She completely dedicated herself to the cause and learned that she was a natural with guns and fighting. Towards the end of the war she had rose to the rank of corporal. During the Battle of Du-Khang she got separated from her unit and stumbled across an Alliance officer who had also been separated from his unit. When she confronted the officer she realized it was her brother Conrad. The two of them stood in a stalemate, guns drawn at each other both trying to explain to the other why they were on the wrong side. Cori will never know if she got through to her brother as a sniper bullet took him out right before her. Shocked from seeing her brother killed mere feet from her, she staggered back stepping on a mine. Luckily for her the mine was defective and the blast smaller than intended, as a result she was wounded.
She woke up a several weeks later in an Independent hospital camp with damage to her spine causing her loss of use in her right leg. A field medic came up with the idea for a hydraulic brace and managed to convince one of the mechanics to make her one out of scrap parts. With it she was able to walk again but is almost always in pain. The loss of her brother combined with constant pain from her injury led Cori to drinking, she soon became addicted to alcohol and pain medications. Due to her experiences in the war Cori has developed PTSD and, is prone to lashing out at people, experiencing flashback and nightmares.
At the end of the war she moved from freelance job to job usually getting fired due to her bad attitude or the fights she had become known for picking. She bounced between being a hired gun on different ships and spending time in local jails in the rim usually after being arrested for causing trouble. Until three months ago when she ran across a person from her past who eventually convinced her to join his crew. As far as Cori is concerned Cordelia Sexton is dead and only Cori remains.
Spoiler: Relationships:
Michael King:Cori has known Michael since she was a young child. The two of them grew up together and we're even engaged to be married. Though neither of them had any intentions to get married. They both saw it as a way to get their families to stop pressuring them. The two of them drifted apart when Cori joined the rebels and only found each other after the war. At first Cori tried to play it off that she wasn't Cordelia Sexton but after a while gave in, admitting she was and joining his crew.
Michelangelo Cardones:When the Captain first brought this kid onto the ship to be their pilot, Cori couldn't imagine what he was thinking. A couple rough escapes after that and Cori realized that Mikey had a great deal of skill. He flew better than some pilots who had been flying longer than Mikey had been alive. Cori respects his skill but the boy tends to get on her nerves. She is always threatening to shoot him however it is mostly an idle threat. Truth be told Mikey has been growing on her and she would never outright admit it but she likes him and looks out for him. Provided he isn't playing any pranks on her.
Jun Kae: Cori doesn't really know what to make of the ship's mechanic. The quiet strange woman was on the ship before the Captain convinced Cori to join the crew. One thing Cori knows for sure is Jun is damn good at her job. She has seen Jun bring parts that appeared beyond repair back to life. When the hydraulics on her brace sprung a leak after being struck by a stray round in a fire fight Jun was able to repair it and even make a few upgrades all before Cori woke up the next morning. Cori doesn't really socialize much with Jun, mostly because the mechanic is terrified of her and she barely can get a word in before Jun runs off. Hell she practically had to corner her to ask for help with her brace.
Fluke: They first met during the war when Cori was transferred to the 22nd Pathfinders on Du-Khang. At first like many soldiers she wasn't sure about the former Alliance soldier, but after their first fire fight Cori saw that Fluke had no loyalty to the Alliance. They both were injured and ended up on Persephone to recover and stayed close. After joining the Aurora when they came across Fluke, Cori encouraged the Captain to bring her aboard.
Qillaero:Cori doen't like taking passengers aboard, finding them annoying and in the way. But she knows they are needed source of income. Cori is just polite enough to get by but that is it. With Qillaero something about him just rubs her wrong. She doesn't really know what it is but Cori doesn't like him. She mostly avoids him on the ship and ignores him.
Mei / Zhao Feiyan: Cori has always had a good relationship with Companions, in her former life as Cordelia Sexton she was known to frequently employ companions. She had never met Mei before her coming to the Aurora but felt an instant connection to Mei. It reminded her a little of her old carefree life. Having a companion on board had its advantages as well, all Companions are trained masseuses. Thinking it would help with her chronic pain Cori reacted out to Mei for her massage experience.
Anika Mehren: Cori's opinion of the ship's medic is a strange one, some days she likes her other days she wants to ring her neck. Usually Cori can get her own medication but there are times she must dip into the ship's stash. Problem is there is a gate keeper, mainly Anika. Most times the medic won't help her out but from time to time Cori can get meds from her. This leads Cori to alternate between being nice to her and wanting to throttle her. Least she isn't always trying to get Cori to quit. Cori knows her addiction is a bad thing but to be honest she rather be a junky than in constant pain.
Francis “Frankie”or “Frank” Astair:First impressions can last, when Cori first met Frankie they were standing in an alley with a drawn gun. The would be doctor only wanted to buy a ride but set Cori on edge by following her. It is a miracle Cori didn't shoot her but eventually she gave in and allowed Frankie passage on the ship. Never the less Cori doesn't fully trust Frankie but is giving her the benefit of the doubt.

I'll be using my character from Tradehard, since that's probably not going anywhere. Which sucks, but we can't do much about that. Poor Holey. All that excitement.
Michael stands at about 5’9” and weighs 170lbs. His hair is short and dark black with a hint of early onset gray on the sides, from stress. Michael’s eyes are a dark green. Clothing wise he is very basic. Cargo pants and boots, a sleeveless shirt usually but he has an assortment of shirts and hoodies, a bandolier full of ammor, fingerless gloves. Hand cannon holstered on his right thigh. Several other pouches can be found on his person at any given time, he likes pouches, very useful. When off the ship he likes to wear a hooded poncho, to conceal his weapons..
Physically Michael is very fit, training in the military giving him a well toned form. His body sports several tattoos. His family crest, a lion with a crown and a shield, on his left chest. The Alliance emblem on his right shoulder, which now has a not at all straight line tattooed through it, his own doing. On the back of his neck, near his shoulder blades, is a barcode from his time undergoing experiments as a reader. Numerous scars litter his skin from combat, most notably a thick, jagged line down his chest, from his right breast to his left hip, and a few bullet holes here and there in his side and leg, one in his back.
Spoiler: Tattoos
Homeworld / Place of birth: Ariel/Ariel City
Religion: Atheist. A man of science, logic and reasoning.
Weapons: A large caliber hand cannon and a compact shotgun. Michael also likes to train with a two handed sword, recreationally, it can also be seen in his hands as he makes rounds on his ship. Never used in combat but he hopes to someday. His time in the military also gave him a decent understanding of other weapons and a makes him versatile in his roles for jobs, but the hand cannon and shotgun are usually his go to and often on his person.
Spoiler: Weapons
Special Qualities: Michael is a good leader, he’s charismatic and has a personality that just draws people in. He also has minimal telekinesis, able to move objects the size of a footlocker or smaller. Also he sometimes gets a sixth sense when something is about to happen.
Role: Captain
Opinion on Unification: Since being tossed aside by the Alliance and sent to his death he questions his efforts if it was worth it to work for a government who saw him expendable. He sees the benefit of being united but no longer cares for the ruling body and doesn’t care if he hurts it in his dealings.
History: The King family has a long line of military tradition. Their family producing great soldiers and leaders. Michael King was no exception. As a young boy he was diligent and studied hard throughout school. With high marks he was enrolled in a prestigious military academy. He was the pride and joy of their family. Ambitious, strong, charismatic. By the time he finished at the academy his mother had numerous suitors lined up for him. But he brushed that aside as he was about to start his military career.
Because of his family he was fast tracked, earning several promotions, all of which he felt he didn’t truly earn but took them nonetheless to appease his mother and father. Michael was not one to sit idly by and was often in the thick of things thus earning the respect of those under his command. He went out and bled with them instead of sitting back and barking orders. One time after he had been shot in the leg he managed to tap into his telekinesis ability, throwing up small amounts of debris and spent shell casings around him. Immediately after the battle he was shipped back to Ariel City to undergo experiments. Every day he would be hooked up to different machines, being poked and prodded. He was able to control his power but could only lift smaller object, the size of a small crate or footlocker. Command was disappointed they couldn’t get him to harness his powers further.
They sent him on a mission soon after. Michael was tasked with leading a small squad to destroy a small outpost landing zone the Browncoats were using to ship supplies. Only it hadn’t just been a small outpost but a rather large one and they were outmanned and outgunned four to one. It wasn’t like command to give him bad intel, it was always accurate. When all hell broke loose Michael had realized he had been sent to his death, tossed aside and abandoned, he didn’t suit the Alliance’s needs anymore. He fought hard, the hardest he’s ever fought before. A Browncoat wielding a shirt blade cut him badly across the chest. Michael blacked out after that, the pain was intense. As his vision faded rage courses through him.
When Michael returned to consciousness everything was torn apart, tossed around and several things were in fire. Bodies, both Alliance and Independents, lay dead around him. He also was staring down the barrel of several Browncoat rifles. As a POW they treated his wounds and kept him off the grid. Once the Alliance won the war he was released, but he was done with them. Michael bounced around the frontier, making all kinds of friends and enemies. Winning a ship in a card game sent him on a new path of self made riches, taking on a crew and any job they came their way.
Spoiler: Relationships
Cori Sutton aka Cordelia Sexton: Michael had known Cori since they were young children, they were good friends. Their parents were friends and they attended the same functions together. They were even arranged to be married but neither one of them had any plan to go through with it, it only served to keep their families off their back as they went about their own business and fulfilling their own goals. He was saddened by her departure from the Alliance but he never thought he’d see her again. So he was surprised one day they crossed patches after the war.
Michelangelo Cardones: They were down a pilot. Someone needed to fly the boat and while he could do it himself, as captain he was usually needed in more than one place at the same time. Using what little contacts he had left on the central worlds he asked for files on pilots. Michael figured they were being clever by handing him a stack of washouts. Looking through them he found a promising one. Grabbing the picture he tracked him down on the central worlds and made him an offer to join his crew as the pilot.
Jun Kae aka Junk: The Aurora limped into a port barely hanging on. Clinging on with sheer will alone the engines all but fell off after landing. Frustrated he took a moment, sitting on a crate outside the Aurora and just stared at her, wondering what he had to do so she could be space worthy again. His savior came running up to the ship, spare parts and tools in hand. Never one to turn down a free gift Michael let her poke around. She said she could talk to the ship, but it seemed telling him that made her nervous so the next time she asked for a tool Michael made it a point to levitate it over to her. Impressed with her work Michael made her an offer on the spot, they needed a skilled and dedicated mechanic so problems like this didn't happen again.
Fluke: Fluke was a recent addition to the crew. All he really had to go on was Cori's recommendation. His old friend she was skilled and solid. Qualities he needed and valued. So he went with his gut and trusted his old friend and first mate, welcoming Fluke aboard.
Zhao Feiyan aka Mei: Running into Mei was sort of an accident. After finishing business and walking back to the ship with Cori a sudden feeling washed over him. So he ditched Cori like that time she left him to go with Sally Pinkerton on their first date. What he didn't expect was to literally run into the answer to his problems, or that Mei was in the middle of laying a smackdown with some unsavory types. Michael of course, upon realizing he interrupted, offered his assistance. One snag in the plan was one the man's friends showed up. Deciding it was safer somewhere else the two made it back to the Aurora. Michael and Mei got to chatting and when it was revealed Mei was a companion Michael jumped at the chance to have her on the crew.
Francis “Frankie”or “Frank” Astair: Passengers were common on the Aurora. It was the easiest way to make money. From the beginning of time people needed to get to point A to point B so taking Frankie was no problem. Also an extra medic on board was never a bad thing.
Anika Mehren: The ship needed a doctor and when one came knocking Michael didn't hesitate to bring her on board. Their tendency to get into tough scrapes meant constant patchwork and Michael got tired of digging bullets out of himself. She was also the only one on the ship to she the large scar on his chest that he received at Deadwind.
Name: Michelangelo Cardones: Age / Birthdate: 19 / September, 2492 Ethnicity: Mixed (hispanic/white) Gender: Male
Spoiler: Appearance:
Spoiler: Image
Michelangelo stands about 5’9,” though his dyed red hair adds about an inch to his height. His hair is spiked on top but the rest is gathered into a ponytail that extends halfway down his back. He still has a teenager’s metabolism so his body is lithe but muscular. His taste in clothing runs towards black coats and white shirts. He always, ALWAYS, wears a pair of goggles, usually they rest on his forehead.
Homeworld / Place of birth: None / Born aboard the Wayfarer, a privately owned cargo hauler
Religion: None
Spoiler: Weapons:
Spoiler: Baton
Michelangelo was never really a scrapper, fighting was never something that interested him. So after an unfortunate loss of consciousness during a bar brawl, Mikey picked up something to even the odds. It hasn't been used much, really only having been extended to prevent a fight between passengers.
Spoiler: Skorpion
Michelangelo keeps this hidden under the pilots console. He's used it at a firing range, and so is familiar with it. However as he stays with the ship more often than not the gun, has yet to cause injury.
Spoiler: Derringer
A gift from Cori, Mikey keeps this on him at all times. The result of being the only person in a standoff without a firearm, the pilot learned his lesson.
Spoiler: Axe
This is Mikey's favorite weapon, and the only thing henloves as much as flying. On long runs, when there isn't much need to teak the ships direction he'llngrab this a strum the time past.
Special Qualities: Michelangelo, was born to fly, his mother sometimes wondered why the boy wasn’t born with wings. If it can fly, Mikey can not only fly it, he can fly it with style. And of course no pilot of any real skill, nor anyone who has spent their entire life on a ship can go without learning a few things on how to keep ships running; Michelangelo is a competent mechanic, though only just barely. Role: Pilot Opinion on Unification: Michelangelo is pretty ambivalent about the subject. He can see the logic in unification, safety in numbers, and one mind stuff. But he also sees the problems, especially for those who perform his line of work. If everything is the same price everywhere, then theres no money to be made. So the youth tends to flup flop depending on the aspect of it being addressed. History: Michelangelo was born to a pair of spacers, hauling cargo between the outer planets. His exact birthdate is unknown, though all involved agree it occurred in September. Mikey spent his childhood on the ship, learning to fly at his father’s elbow. By the age of 9 he was a competent pilot and by the age of 12 he was all but an expert; Everyone he knew called him an expert. It was during the unification war that an alliance patrol boarded his father’s ship. They were released with no more trouble than usual but the alliance ship’s captain made note in his report of the boy pilot. The Alliance then recruited the boy, (at great cost) into a special “top-gun” pilot program. Though he learned how to defend himself being the youngest there still left him picked on quite a bit.
Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your favorite to win, Michelangelo was kicked out of the pilot program shortly before the war ended. Though he was the top pilot in the class his resistance to authority and his youthful exuberance for pranks and mischief, and one very unauthorized flyby, cost him his chance at being a top gun. Unfazed Mikey took what he learned and started seeking meaningful employment. He’s been from one end of the verse to the other, and been behind the controls of everything from small one man fighters to the bigger cargo liners. He’s cocky, somewhat lazy, and he seems to enjoy trouble.
Spoiler: Relationships:
Spoiler: King
Michelangelo was stranded in the core scamming drunks for enough to survive day to day, when he was approached by a captain who offered him the position of pilot. Not copilot, not apprentice with the possibility of promotion. Three questions later Mikey was the Aurora's pilot; A job he's proven himself at, under a captain who treats him like the pilot he is. Michelangelo respects King, and is more then happy hauling the Aurora ‘round the ‘verse.
Spoiler: Cori
Cori is a bitter, world weary, old drunk who hates everything. Michelangelo however sees through this. He viewers her as either the angry elder sister or the aunt who terrifies everyone else. While they do butt heads, Mikey may be one of the few who seems to be able to get Cori to actually smile.
Spoiler: Jun(k)
Quiet, withdrawn, and sheltered are all typical descriptors applied to Junk. Michelangelo has added a talent that can be trusted, and trapped potentional. Mikey inherently trusts the quiet, hermit like mechanic in all things mechanical; Even whilst trying to rope her into assisting his pranks.
Spoiler: Mei
Michelangelo reacted the way most 17 year old boys do upon meeting a beautiful older woman. He instantly became smitten; (Un)Fortunately he came to realize that her doting behavior was not some display of a secret and forbidden love. It was instead that of a doting elder sister. Not one to give into negativity, Mikey goes with the flow, his unrequited feelings buried under his roguish wit and charm.
Spoiler: Fluke
Michelangelo is extremely grateful that she has no authority. In his dealings with her she has repeatedly shown to be a poor judge of character. And so she has become a favorite target for his pranks. The woman's deliberate coldness only making the pilot enjoy it more.
Spoiler: Qillaero
Michelangelo thinks the self absorbed pretty boy is compensating for something. Cori is a certifiable badass and she doesn't need more handguns then she has hands. Mikey doesn't trust the slimey smiles the obvious con man gives him when not shysting innocent old women of their money.
