"The moment you open that door, you walk though all the consequences behind it."
COLLATERAL DAMAGE
The Prologue
Newsline, Channel 7
A year after individuals started to exhibit signs of superhuman abilities in [redacted city name], the United States Government becomes pressed to respond to the outcry for control.
Crime statistics have been blown sky high, rivaling that of New York City. While statistically only 23% of these crimes are attributed to superhuman individuals - and it's not known if the existence of these individuals are a factor of the high crime rate spike - the collateral damage caused by this unregulated power is pushing the City to it's breaking point.
Many citizens are outraged at the tax dollars being re purposed due to superhuman activities. Janet Paige, a leader of the Anti-Super Movement, is one of the many raising her voice to the public demand for change.
"People are concerned for their safety, and to have freaks out and about able to pick up a car or able to hypnotize someone with the blink of an eye puts us all in jeopardy," says Paige. "When is anybody going to actually bring down the hammer on these trouble makers?"
The Anti-Super Movement, a large group of Anti-Superhuman Activists started only 6 short months ago with the Grover Media Tower Tragedy, an event which led to the death of 56 civilians proven to be caused by superhuman individuals.
We had a moment to speak with Alan Barnaby, Deputy Mayor about rumors of an upcoming legislation regarding superhuman activities.
"The development of Superhuman Activity has made a major impact on our way of life, no question," says Barnaby. "Whether we like it or not, there have been changes here and we can only guess as to what changes tomorrow."
Barnaby would not confirm any rumors about such legislation, and refused to comment on if he would be interested in one. Mayor Stevens was not available for comment.
Crazy stuff. We'll keep an eye out as always on new developments toward City Hall's stance with Superhuman Activity. Let's head over to everyone's favorite meteorologist for this week's forecast...
