STORY BACKGROUND

In the world that we live in, there are legends, myths, and things not so mythical. Legend tells of a boy named Daidai who changed the world forever. But that was then, this is now, and thens have become what they were then all over again; filled with hatred and war. The towns of Black and White have gone to war with the Main City. The Main City has declared a sort of war on the middle villages. Everyone lives in absolute fear, but it's all just the normal for them; for us. This is the story of the fighters, merchants, and others in this world. This is the story of future legends.

THE MAIN CITY

This is where most people live. The buildings are made of crude brick, rock, and steel, and the family you're born in decides who you are. There are factions depending on birth; Fighters, Merchants, Chefs, Blacksmiths, and Teachers, who are one of these things until reaching a certain age, and then take to teaching it to others. Those who don't want to be one of these things are considered Rebels, and tossed into jail or out of the city for it. Then, last of all, there are the Others who are born into riches and royalty and look down on the town they rule above.

The Academy: Where most of our future legends are currently learning to kill. As soon as they finish training, they are thrown out to take on missions as a two man/woman team, and if they want a leader they have to find one on their own. Many die within days of turning sixteen; which is their graduation day.

Appearance of the city: As mentioned, it's made out of steel and crudely made things. It's a mixture of steampunk works and midieval creations. Everyone gets around on foot, and the rich by horse. The roads are dirt, and the forests surrounding have bits of false gold and iron protruding from the ground and trees. That is, on the off occassion that other villages aren't warring over the grounds, covering it in blood.

THE BRANCH VILLAGES

All named after colors, they are run basically the same as the Main Village, but are much smaller and have a grudge against the Main Village for mistreating the poorer folk for so many years. There are six of these villages, (but only members of the Black and White villages are going to be incorporated in the RP) the Red, White, Black, Silver, Grey, and Gold villages.

Appearance of the villages: Similar to the Main City, but much more run down. The Main City has raided the villages since the war began, leaving many people homeless, and everyone full of rage. Most of these villages are surrounded by forest like the Main Village, with an exception of the Silver village, which is barren and covered with snow, and the Gold village, which is basically a desert.

THE MIDDLE VILLAGES

These villages were created by those who refused to accept their fate in the Main City or branch villages and chose to leave and become what they wished to be. These villages are much more peaceful, though many still hold deep grudges with the Main City and the villages for 'forcing' them to leave their families. The Main City has recently been warring with a few of these unnamed villages, completely destroying some, yet the mostly docile members of these places choose to forgive and forget and pray the raids end soon.

Appearance of the villages: Like the others, they resemble old world villages with steampunk contraptions all around. Some of these villages have been completely destroyed and broken to pieces.

THE FACTIONS

Fighters: The biggest faction, overall. They are taught in a specific style of fighting (the only thing in their life pretty much that they are allowed to choose) and are forced to go off into war and fight with people they may have called friends at one point. They all can control Steam, which is also the source of their power. Steam can enhance their attack power or speed up attacks, or in some cases be used to disappear into thin air. Steam is considered an element, as well as a source of energy. (With the 'source of energy' bit, think along the lines of chakra in Naruto.) Very few fighters, and people of other factions, can also control a second element; fire, water, electricity, light, or darkness.

Merchants: Pretty self explanatory, they run the shops and such. They are generally poor and barely make a living with this.

Chefs: The cooks. These work at restaurants, and often make a better living than Merchants by a little bit, as many of them become personal servants for the richer side of town.

Blacksmiths: They create weapons of all types for the Fighters, and other than Fighters, they are the ones with the most use for extra abilities. They can infuse weapons with elemental powers, if they themselves have these elements. They are middle class, along the same area as Chefs.

Teachers: These get the most choice of anyone in the City or villages; they choose when they're young what faction to be until they are eighteen. When they turn eighteen, they teach others of the faction they were formerly the secrets of the trade.

Others: The rich people that the other townsfolk despise. They create the wars, they create the hatred, they destroy lives, and they don't have to lift a finger to do it.

1. I'm not making a limit for how long a post can be, but please no tiny single sentences, and please attempt to use grammar.

2. I make the rules. Disobey my rules too many times, and I can and will kill your character off. No exceptions.

3. No overly sexual scenes, or too many vulgarities. Relationships and such are fine, but don't take it too far.

4. The story is not only created by me, remember that, events are also widely controlled by YOU. If you have a plot twist up your sleeve, go ahead and toss it out there, all I ask is that you keep it within range and possibility of the rp. I don't want aliens landing and taking over the world midway through the story.

5. Most importantly, I want you to have fun and be creative.

CHARACTERS

Spoiler: Ketso Midera (my character) 

Name: Ketso Midera

Age: 19

Appearance: He has long black hair that's spiky on the top. He weilds a greatsword with a crack down the middle of it. His skin is pale and his eyes are dark red. He has a small tattoo of a musical note on his chest and his eyes are always dark around the edges as if he's wearing a lot of eyeliner. He wears simple clothes, usually a tank top and jeans along with armor along his legs and arms.

Faction: Fighter, former blacksmith.

Birthplace: Main City, but he left and joined one of the small Middle Villages

Abilities: None.

Personality: When first meeting someone or fighting, he wears a stern face like a mask and doesn't usually speak a word. He comes off as dark and menacing, but those who know him know that he's actually the opposite of that. He's very protective of his friends and family and won't stand to watch them be hurt.

Backstory: He grew up as the child of a blacksmith, and enjoyed every moment of it. He loved the feel of hammer against melting metal and watching his creations being used to fight. However, when he was just about to graduate, his father was murdered by an assassin working for the Main City, because he had been planning to leave and head to one of the Middle Villages because they were more peaceful. As soon as Ketso graduated he left the City and ran away to become a fighter for one of the Middle Villages and avenge his father.

Spoiler: Yula Montegrue 

Name: Yula Montegrue
Age: 15 turning 16 in a few days (on the verge of graduating)
Appearance:
Faction: Fighter
Birthplace: Middle Village
Abilities: She can control wind and use her sword as an extension of her wind power. She can enchant her sword but that enchantment may last until she puts her sword back in the Scabbard.
Personality: She is calm during battles and would always be alert. When not within battle she is bubbly and lively as a child. She is a kind spirit, forgiving and caring but most of the time this is what gets her in trouble. She may be deadly but without her sword in hand she is careless. Her biggest flaw is her emotions. She would, most of the time, endanger herself because of her emotions.
Backstory: Yula was born to normal family. A family of Fighters versed in the way of the sword. Her sword, Kyeli, is the child sword of her father's. Her sword was made with a single shard from her father's sword and given to her. She was entrusted to fight with dignity and not let anything come before duty, just like her father. But that idea was something she would never follow. Her father sacrificed a lot for duty, including his wife. Yula swore that she would never sacrifice anyone she cared for just for her duty to fight for the town. A little is known about this young and bubbly female because non would care to ask. She was known by all but she was called a friend by none. Most of the people think of her family as the duty-bound people. People who would give up their friends, loved-ones, family for the sake of duty. Yula wanted to change that horrifying mark on her family but she had no idea how. If only people would talk to her about things other than battle strategy and defense and of the war she would really take the time to make friends with them.

She knew that this village had some evils of it's own far greater than the evil's of the Black and White Villages. But she could not and would not betray her village. She was a good fellow in a wrong team. She aspires for only one thing, to have peace. She has seen and heard alot of people dying and now, as she neared her end of the academy, she was to be thrown into battle.

Spoiler: Ferrum 

Name: Ferrum
Age:20

Faction: Blacksmith
Birthplace: Main City
Abilities: His hand-crafted blade has been imbedded with a pestilence enchantment, meaning that any wound it creates will not seal without aid, and additionally there is a high chance that it will be infected. The infection causes extreme pain, followed by a deep numbing feeling. If not treated, it kills.
Personality: Ferrum can seem boring, or absent-minded if the matter at hand does not relate to him. He can be narrow minded at times, stubborn, and yet, given sufficient reason he can be swayed to any side of battle. In fact, battle, next to weapon crafting, is one of the few things that interest him.
Backstory: Ferrum had always loved the art of warcraft, but even more interesting to him were the weapons used in it. Since he was young he dreamt of forging his own name, his own legacy. When accepted to the Academy, unlike his peers, he was not particularly excited or overjoyed. The concept of training seemed more a necessity than a gift, and he received it as so. Upon his recent graduation, by right, his final test was to choose a metal that he felt most comfortable with, and forge his own blade.
Using an enchanted steel alloy, his weapon, Clarissa, was born.

As war came upon the land, Ferrum couldn't help but be slightly intrigued, not knowing whether to side with the main city, or the outlaying villages. He figured he'd take to the life of a mercenary of sorts.

Spoiler: Jarvis Harthur 

Name: Jarvis Harthur

Age: 19

Appearance: Average height and rather fit. Dark brown messy hair, hazel eyes, a clean
face (Shaved, without scars ect) Slightly naturally tanned skin. He wears a scarf around his neck that loosely covers the bottom half of his face and it has a cowl that is normally drawn over the top of his face.
Faction: Rouge

Birthplace: Branch Village -Black- But moved to Main City

Abilities: Electricity- He can focus his electrical power into his hand and can use that to electrocute his foes. He isn't very proficient with and can only use it on contact with his hand (So he cant use it with his weapons.) He is happy with the ability because it gives him a chance to knock his foe out instead of killing or crippling them.
Personality: Quiet and mysterious, he seems to always have a trick up his sleeve. He enjoys company as long as its limited to a game of cards. -Shy-

Backstory: In the Black Branch Village he officially learned how to be a trader until he was 16 but he had managed to bribe one of the Fighter Faction Instructors to give him behind the scenes teaching on Combat with Sabers as-well as Duel wielding Daggers or short swords after he showed skill in that area, with money that he stole from Merchants while he was in the Merchant Faction. Once he was a month older then 16 he put a plan he had created into action. When one of the rare carriages carrying officials came into the city trying to make an alliance he took the opportunity to use his power and knocked one of them that were wearing alot of heavy clothes so that barely any of his body was showing and swapped clothes. Taking their place on the carriage he managed to make his way into the Main City. He ran a small Black Market Business until he made enough money to afford a proper well payed shop. Having learned the way of the Merchants had helped immensely. He couldn't give up the Black Market Business for fear of being betrayed by one of the people he supplied goods. By this time he was at his current age 19. He still trained himself as hard as he could without interrupting his Shop.

-He decided to keep on training in the art of the Saber as-well as Duel Short Swords/Daggers Because if he ever got into trouble with the authority due to the Black Market Business he may need it. Or if he were targeted by a rival Market.

-His motivation is that he was told that the People of the Black Villages were just scraps compared to the Main Villages and he would never succeed in life as they did. It was his father who told him this before he went to war with the Main Village and died. His mother is alive but sick with something there is no cure for and is thus always bedridden and cant support him let alone herself.

I WANT you all to give me ideas. Post here if you have a good idea for the story, or even for bigger things such as factions and such. Don't be shy, I'm open to suggestions of all sorts of things.

Reaper.: That depends on the age of your character and such. If they're still in the academy, they may not have gotten they're weapon yet. But generally, specialty of weapon, like most everything else, is something that's decided by birth. So whayever your families specialty is, is your characters. Does that make since?

Xannak, that's pretty much what abilities are. It allows them to control an element that's special to them, that the rest of their family may not even be able to use. As soon as Christmas is over I'll have my character's sheet up, maybe that will help answer questions. ;p
