    Prologue
    (music)

"No... Please, not now..." The old man's voice trembled with fear. He ran through tha main hall of the Wulfric mansion. The lights slowley faded after him.

"Conrad? Conrad, what's the problem?" The lady stepped out from a side door. "You seem frightened..." The professor slowed down next to his wife, and grabbed his arms.

"Run, my love! Run! He's coming!"

"Who? What are you talking about, Conrad?"

"The Only Brood! He's coming! Run, Diana!" He started to drag the woman along.

"You are not making sense, Conrad, stop!" She tried to pull her arm from the professors hand, but without luck. "And where is Simon?"

"Simon! My god! Simon! Go to the dining room, Diana! I have to find Simon!" The old man released his wife, and started to run back. "Go to the dining room!"

Conrad Wulfric ran along the corridors, into the darkness. He knew the way to his grandson's room, but without light, he bumped into chairs, opened doors. He ripped open the door, and looked around, but he couldn't find Simon Wulfric.

"Simon! Simon! Where are you?" He cried. He didn't got an answer. But he couldn't continue the search, because a hand grabbed his collar, and threw him to the passage's wall.

Professor Wulfric stood up slowley, coughing. He looked at the only lights: Two eyes, glowing, crimson diamonds. The One Brood grabbed his neck, and lifted the old man from the ground.

"You thought you could escape from me? You could trick me? We had an agreement, old man!" The Brood's voice was like long nails scratching on a blackboard. "Now, you pay the price!"

He dragged the professor after himself. When he opened the doors to the dining room, Diana, who waited inside, stood up from her chair.

"Conrad! What's happening? Who is this?"

Neither of them answered, and while the doors slowley closed by themselves, the Brood pulled out a long, curved blade from his robes...

    The Murder
(What can be known from the press)

Professor Conrad Wulfric (67) and his wife, Mrs. Diana Wulfric (56) died on November 27th, 1932. The early winter rendered difficult the way to the Wulfric mansion for the police, whom have been called by Samantha Lear (22), tha maid of the mansion, who found the bodies. She was terrified, and in shock.
The two bodies were in the dining room, both of them naked, and lying on the table. Their throat was cut, all of their blood drained to the floor. Their eyes have been cut out. Somebody painted strange symbols on the walls.
Ms. Lear could tell us only two things, both of them were bizarre. The first thing is the strange hownling, the young maid heard just before she found the bodies. The secound one that when she opened the door, she saw somebody beyond the window: A cloaked figure. The dining room is on the secound floor.
Simon Wulfric (12), the grandson of Conrad Wulfric is still missing.

    The history of
    Ashmore Grove

Ashmore Grove lies at the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, about 50 miles south from the city of Essex, and 22 miles east of the town of Arkham, and has 3000 denizens.
It was founded in the colonization era. This land was the main settlement for the Wampanoag indians. About five hundred native americans lived in one village, peacefully. They traded with the white man, and had diplomatic agreements with the settlers. But one day, a mad general, called Thaddeus Ashmore came with two thousand soldiers, and slaughtered them. It was a massacre. The attack begined at midnight, and they didn't spare man, woman or children. They skinned the Wampanoag, and hanged they body around the grove...
One year later, the general founded the settlement of Ashmore Grove. It thrived, it's population grew slowley, but continously. It was a peaceful village, a small piece of paradise. But on the 10th anniversary of the Great Massacre, something strange happened.
On the exact day, ten years later, the residents of Ashmore Grove woke up in the middle of the night, because everybody heard the primal scream... All the five hundred citizens of the town. It came from the Town Square. The denizens ran there, and found a horrible scene. The body of Thaddeus Ashmore, the founder of the city hanged from the town hall. His skinned and tortured body was still in motion for a few secounds.
For years, the town of Ashmore Grove shrinked. Nobody wants to live in a cursed settlement. But the events became history, then myth, and it throve again. But then 1932 came...

Just a few questions before I make a profile - could I make a character related to Samantha Lear? Or would the relationship to the Wulfric family be too distant? And so I'm 100% clear, this is set in 1932, right?

    Hi!
Yes, it's 1932. And the relationship is fine. It will be close enough!

Thank you! Also, what do you mean when you say you'll only GM - does that mean you won't have a character, per se? Or am I interpreting this completely wrong xD

You are interpreting it completely right! I won't have a player character, thanks to the mystery line of the story. I will be the GameMaster only, and I will create active life for the NPCs.

This looks really interesting. A murder mystery/Cthulu adventure. I don't think theres a better combination.

This looks like a great game. Why not submit it for Roleplay of the Week or put it in the Roleplaying Games Directory or click here to help attract players?
