Fortunately you have a number of avenues here including creating your own recruitment thread for one on one roleplays here and (because you have impeccable timing!) also the option to join our current holiday event and throw your hat into the ring with other people looking for a partner here!
If neither of those floats your toy boat then you might browse the different out-of-character (OC) forums for people who have group roleplays open currently. The Downtown section is always a great choice if you are looking for some light banter and/or to vye for ultimate control of the... you know. Mostly light banter.

Thanks for the advice.
I came here from over a decade of only RPing with my partner after all our friends fell out of it. I'd say the best way to get into things here has been to explore all the fun little sections not directly involved with RPing to get a good sense of the community and become more familiar with it. No need to rush into a new RP straight away!
When you feel more comfortable, probably chatting with people casually through topical or game threads, maybe looking up some that you have met and seeing how they write and RP? Group ones are not easy to get into when one is new so perhaps a 1x1 with just a single member is a good way to get started testing how to interact with unfamiliar writing styles and getting to show new people your style too!
