"With the update to Gravity Ball rules now in effect throughout the Concert leagues, I think we can all expect to see the Charabidian dominance of the field begin to crumble. I would say that, next season, we can expect to see Terran and Lyran teams. . . "
"I'm sorry to interrupt you there Hank. We have just received an update from our reporter in the field at the launching of the Elcano. We'll be picking up the feed momentarily. . .
"Hi Esran, this is Julie Piper reporting live from the Memoriam system. As you can see back in the studio, the Elcano is now breaking orbit of the dead world of Memoriam. As a joint project between the various Concert powers, this amazing vessel represents a great technological achievement. Its primary drive is now going through a final test firing before it heads for the Collector Gate, which I have been informed is now holding a full charge."
"Julie, what was the delay? Wasn't this launch meant to have occurred two weeks ago?"
"Good question Esran. At the moment concert officials are keeping quiet, but rumour has it it was security related."
"With the recent flare-up of hostilities along the Sentinax and Charabidian border, two of the biggest sponsors in terms of materials and science, that's understandable."
"That may be Esran, but. . . wow, look at that engine flare! The Elcano uses a pulsed plasma rocket as its primary motor, and you can see why, the acceleration for such a massive ship is incredible!"
"Julie, wasn't the Elcano meant to have a pair of docked frigates for escorts?"
"It was Esran. The two Buckler Class Frigates, new ships built for this mission, will be rendezvousing with the Elcano just before the gate, both ships were on shakedown cruises when the go order was given. Our networks drones will keep pace with the Elcano as best as they can, but the Elcano is accelerating at a constant 10 G. Looks like they really want to make the gate!"
"Thanks Julie. If you've just joined us, the Concerts Exploration Ark, the Elcano, will be shortly departing the known galaxy for the Sagitarrius Dwarf Spheroidal galaxy, a mission that will take five years. Two of those years will be spent in transit, with the crew asleep. You can catch up with the history of the Elcano and its amazing mission via the hyperlink below. And now, the Stock Market report, with Yevan Krondberg."
"Thanks Esran, hell of a thing isn't it? Well, with continuing border tensions and fleet movements, stocks in the super-material markets are predictably up . ."
ALL CREW TO CRYO PODS. PREPARE FOR HYPER SLEEP. ALL CREW TO CRYO PODS. PREPARE FOR HYPER SLEEP
Crewman dash around the medical decks of the Elcano, clambering into pods and hooking up to automated medical systems. As they do, key information about these sleepers is registered to the pods systems.

There is a heavy thunk as the two advanced frigates dock with the Elcano, and automated systems take over. The Sentinax aboard begin to throttle their processing power, dropping into a torpor as automated systems at the gate guide the Elcano's final approach. No backing out now.
The massive ship hits the gate, and time and gravity distorts, stretches, melts. Arcane forces catapult the Ark across the empty vastness between galaxies.
Who knows what they will find?
Player Characters :
Crew Compliment
Julian
Mission notes: One of the top flight Sentinax intelligences attached to this mission. I'm not sure I like something that old and that alien running our ship systems, but he has reduced our manpower requirements significantly .
Vezarres
I'm not convinced about this guy, but he works hard enough for three techs, he knows more than most of my puke mechanics have forgotten, and he has enough combat experience for a special forces team just because of who he is.
Kromlyn Kolvar
He's more of a GP than a MD, but we have a lot of people on this ship,
sharing a lot of bacteria. I'm glad to have the old guy.
Jason Ysthmir

Science Division
Dr Sayori Warrick, Phayder Corporate Chief Scientist
Mission Notes: Phaydar has 'donated' a large amount of patented materiel to this mission, our labs are 33% staffed with Phaydar scientists and equipped with Phaydar equipment, especially our Drone Compliment. Currently, Professor Nikos Garrick is heading up the science division aboard, which is split into Engineering, Physics and Social Sciences.
Speaker Iona
Mission Notes: Creepy. That imitator chassis is one of the more advanced to slip out of the Sentinax skunkworks. However as she is effectively a shapeshifter, 'she' might be our most valuable asset in a first contact situation. She reports directly to Sentinax Beta Unit Hekatonkles.
Mission notes: An absolute boon, an expert on everything we might encounter and a bit of a whizz with shield systems. Not Liking the political angle though. I don't think he will keep anything to himself, but. . .
Military Compliment
Pilot First Class Miranda Sinclair-Clarke
Mission Notes: Yes, that Sinclair, and yes, that Sintaris Industries. They moved a lot of weapons our way, including the main guns on our Frigates, to get this girl out of their hair, and apparently that was because of the President breathing down their necks. Politics.
TFMC Private First Class Stefania Stratford
Mission Notes: A conscript. She got swept up by the new 'Citizen Service' laws the Federation slapped in place to rebuild losses and prestige after the Concert War. She's got a real attitude problem, so I'd like her confined to non-critical missions if possible.
Mission Notes: Quiet and resolved, or an introvert. Good at his job, which is what counts.
Severts note: Our best expert on the local fauna and flora, he seems the most comfortable on this alien world.

RULES
As well as the standard RPA rules, these following house rules apply:
Please write all IC posts in third person past tense. That is, "John stood up", never "John stands up" or "I stood up".
Please don't use quote boxes in the IC. If you're reproducing another player's text to help put your own post into context, please indicate the copied text with a different colour. Ideally, please use the colours that I will highlight for each player in the The player characters section above.
To save confusion with the above, please do not use a different coloured text just to indicate that a character is speaking (i.e. don't write "Hi," he said.)
It goes without saying that you can resign from the RP at any time, but if so please have the courtesy to leave some sort of message in the OOC so other players aren't left waiting around for you.

Huzzah! I will be adding a character soon. And I promise to finish up the Lyran history. I call dibbs on the ship's helmsman.

We Are Warriors
Looks like you've got an awesome roleplay started, dakkagor!! If you would like to advertise for more members, here are some ways to do so!
First off, there's the Roleplay of the Week. This is displayed on the website's home page as well as on the side bar of the forum. If you think it might help then we implore you to do so! We are always looking for new RP's to advertise. (No, really. We are. Always.) If you would like a little bit more information, or even an example, you can view that here.
One of the requirements for a RP of the Week submission is that you have a banner. If you're not artistically inclined, however, do not fear! We have several amazing artists on the site who will make one for you. Simply post here.
Next, you can post in this thread and the staff will display your role-play in their signatures.
Also feel free to post in the Roleplay Directory. This is a thread that anyone can view at any time to see roleplays that are currently seeking and accepting members.
Dak, did you mean not to have a bio / history section in the the Character sheet?
Spoiler: Miranda Sinclair-Clarke
Name: Miranda Sinclair-Clarke
Species: Lyran
Age: 24
Spoiler: Appearance:
Miranda usually can be found wearing her navy dress uniform or her flight suit. She has a tattoo on the left side of her neck of a Lyre, it is the symbol of the Lyre First movement. The symbol is seen by many people has a racist symbol very similar to the swastika of old earth.
Department: Operations / Helmsman
Role and Rank (if any): Lieutenant Junior Grade (Lyran Imperial Stellar Navy)
Character Strengths: She has always been a gifted pilot, even as a young child she skipped right over training wheels on her bicycle. By the time she was eleven she “borrowed” her father's hover cars on a regular basis. Being a child of weapons manufacturing company Miranda has used weapons nearly as long as she has been able to walk. She is a marksmen shooter with just about any weapon she picks up. Additionally as with most of the founding families Miranda is trained in fencing and her sword isn't merely decorative.
Character Weaknesses: Affluenza, Miranda was born into a wealthy and influential family. She has never wanted for anything. Always having the best of everything and attending the best schools. She was the last child in her family and a late in life child. Because of this she was raised mostly by the household staff and had few rules growing up. Whenever she got in trouble her father was always there to bail her out. Miranda isn't one to do as she is told and doesn't care about repercussions.
Having grown in a Pre-Concert War, Lyran Empire Miranda has always known many of the prejudices common among the Lyrans. Her father Victor has always been very outspoken on Lyran superiority and that has been passed onto his children. Miranda like many Lyrans believes they are better than the other races. She hasn't had much contact with other races but still doesn't hold a very high opinion of them. The Kel'cyre are the race she probably has had the most contact with and that has only been due to Quentin's relationship with the Queen of Kel'cyre and that doesn't help her opinion any.
What they hope to find: To finally be her own person and not always being associated with her family name, her brother's war crimes or her older sister's political fame.
What they hope to achieve in the New Galaxy: As her sister puts it, a new universe, not connected to the one she came from. A fresh start.
Bio: Born on Lyre in the Imperial city to Sonia Sinclair and Victor Clarke, Miranda is the youngest child in the Sinclair family. Her family is one of the founding families of the Lyran Empire and owner of Sintaris Industries, a weapons manufacturing company. Miranda's childhood was normal for someone born into wealth and status, filled with plenty of nannies and tutors as her parents were more focused on their careers than raising a young child. Why bother when you can pay someone to do it for you? Unlike her older sister Miranda wasn't farmed off to boarding schools and always attended private local schools.
At the end of the Concert Wars Miranda was on the edge of adolescence and things with her family had taken a bad turn. Her oldest sister Quentin, heir to Sintaris Industries was branded a traitor to the Empire then later made President of the Lyran Alliance. While her brother Cedric was convicted of war crimes against the Concert forces most notably the Charabidian Enclaves. Quentin used her new position as President of the Lyran Alliance to get his sentence commuted from death to life in prison. With Quentin moving away from the family business and Cedric in prison the board of Sintaris Industries lost faith in the Sinclair family. A board vote ousted them from control of the company. The Sinclair family still gains income from the company but no longer has a controlling interest. With that any guarantee of a place in the family business was small.
It didn't help that as a teenager Miranda began running with a bad crowd. She became involved the Lyre First movement, sticking mostly to their political side. She was involved in a number of political rallies and protests, being sheltered from any of the more serious actions of the group. When Franklin Pierce attempted to kill Quentin she believed the organization that he wasn't acting on orders or was sponsored by them. Mostly due to the fact that despite many investigations by Lyran and Concert authorities they were never able to find a link. Pierce took that secret to the grave when he killed himself rather than be arrested.
Miranda became a member of the Lyran Imperial Stellar Navy for her mandatory service and after it became clear she wasn't going to be able to get a position in Sintaris Industries she stayed. She became a pilot in the Navy being able to use her love of flying to earn money. Her activities with the Lyre First movement decreased but her belief that the Lyran Alliance would be better off without the Concert meddling in their affairs remained. While on leave from her Navel posting Miranda was arrested during the raid of a Lyre First compound believed to be involved in the bombing of several non-Lyran businesses in the Imperial city. Miranda had nothing to do with the bombings but was still swept up with the others. It was only due to Quentin that she avoid charges. Quentin pulled a number of strings and cashed in most of her favors to get Miranda selected for the Concert's Exploration Ark in hope that she could get a fresh start away from everything.

Enigma, in the link Dak posted there is a tech breakdown. As for how much personal gear, I don't think there is as long as it is within reason.

As Angel said, the link does have a general break down, however, if you are thinking along the lines of Mass Effect, but with less advanced shield technology, then you have it about right. Soldiers wouldn't have personal shields, for instance, but would have powered armour and railgun personal weapons. Computing is exceptionally powerful and fast, medical technology can regrow limbs and organs, cybernetics are common as upgrades rather than just replacements etc.
I followed the link earlier, but really didn't tell me much about the average tech of this place. I started reading Schlock Mercenary and wasn't hopeful reading about the HMO's idea for limb replacement being an arm with a motorized whisk.
Foundation had personal shields in the form of a belt powered by a walnut-sized reactor, but wasn't sure that was part of your game or not. Railguns suggest not much in the way of offensive beam weaponry.
I like that medical tech can regrow limbs and organs - do they do full body backups? E.g. the character dies, and a clone is force grown to at least teen age with all the memories from the last backup? Or perhaps a biochip/braincase that can be transferred to a new body that allows them to resume from their last point of consciousness?
Or genetic alterations? Spend a week in the tank, grow gills?
