*GM post* ((sorry for such a long wait))

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The distant splashing becomes louder and louder and the fog begins to lift a little more. While it is now easier to see farther, a full-fledged skirmish erupts around the two fighters. It is not a melee yet, but the screams of fighters crying out as they strike out at each other and die as well as the zooming of arrows from overhead can be heard.

The archers are firing aimlessly as the fog still covers the wide yet shallow river and both sides that are involved in the skirmish are caught in the crossfire.

(Warriors are now on the field near the two warriors but they do not seem to pay attention or involve themselves in their ongoing fight. The warriors (not the writers) are also getting shot by arrows. It is completely optional if the two warriors end up getting hit by arrows.)

The warrior flinched at the sound of the lizardman's growl.

"I have questioned your worth since the start of this confrontation! Your brown unprotected skin, your squishy feminine muscles, your flimsy armor! It is a wonder you haven't killed yourself tripping over dead bodies yet!" she heard him say.

Her eyes narrowed at the creature. He was really starting to get on her nerves.

"And the biggest slight against your worth, is your slavery to the rage."

"How dare you?" she asked angrily. She tightened her grip on her sword and prepared to attack the berserker. Before she could lunge at him, he spoke again.

"A true warrior, let's not their emotions cloud their judgement. A true warrior maintains perfect control over himself, even over the more volatile of emotions. He can use them as a weapon as well as armor, he can turn them on and off. And they are never out of his control."

Before Mala could respond, the berserker began to mutter incoherently to himself.

He's crazy, she thought to herself as a plan began to form in her head.

Go for his head while he's distracted.

Before she could put her plan into action, the creature lunged at her with his sword behind his back. Mala only had enough time to wonder why he had his sword behind his back when he spun around in the air.

The warrior ducked and avoided the blade, but the berserker's foot struck her hard in the head.

"Bastard," she muttered as the blow sent her falling face-first into the dusty, blood-stained ground.

Several curses ran through Mala's head as she spat some mud out of her mouth with an audible "pfft". She quickly returned to her feet and glared at her opponent. Her earlier plan returned to her head, but before she could put her plan into action, she felt a sharp pain in her right shoulder. Her grip on her sword loosened for a few seconds. She looked over her shoulder and cursed under her breath when she caught sight of an arrow sticking out of her skin.

"Damnit," she swore as another arrow flew past her head and grazed her hair. Her eyes travelled back to her opponent.

You need to end this now, she thought to herself. Her eyes narrowed as she reached over her right shoulder with her left hand. She grabbed the shaft of the arrow, gritted her teeth, tightened her grip on her sword, and pulled.

"AAAGGHHH!" she shouted as the arrow came free of her skin. She slightly loosened her grip on her sword and held the bloody arrow towards her opponent.

"Tell me, Lizard Man, would a true warrior be able to do this?" she asked in a voice that was filled with as much venom as she could muster. She held the arrow for a few seconds, then tossed it aside. Her eyes narrowed and she took a few steps towards the berserker.

Her pace quickened as she came closer to the creature.

"Die!" she shouted as she broke into a run and raised her sword over her head. Once she was within a sword's length of the creature, she swung her sword diagonally and hoped that it would make contact with her opponent's unprotected face.

Bersker's recent attack was the mirror opposite of his first bout with the human. While his primary attack failed him this time, an unexpected secondary one filled it's place. Very much unlike the first time, where the second attack did the damage thus nullifying the need for the primary attack. The lizard man was sure that fact would amuse him later, but at this moment he needed to focus on the surprisingly resilient human. The many voices in his mind were still unified in the duty of destroying this creature, but with the bickering ceased, lucidity and curiosity began filling the now empty battlefield of his mind.

Who was behind this bloodsport? Why were they using himself and no doubt many others for their amusement? Would he get the answers he is looking for should he reach the end of the sick game? As the girl responded to his words and his body began preparing for the inevitable clash of their blades, Berserker found himself feeling sorry for the warrior, not because she was rushing to death at his hand, but because she was just as lost and worried as he was. She was young and pretty by some standards, she had much of her life ahead of her. This, Berserker could tell, she looked like she should still be in her parent's home. It was sad to see such a young thing thrown into something like this, the big warrior knew not his own age or even if he did age. His body felt as young and strong as he would assume a youthful body would, but his mind felt much older and the battle between Ra-Ja and Death seemed to be a long standing one. Maybe he would learn more after his victory or his death on this bloodied field of battle.

It was then the big warrior heard the tell-tale whiz of arrows in flight followed the woman's scream of pain, and instinctively he lifted his borrowed weapon up covering his face with the hilt and lower part of the blade. A couple of arrows dinged off the sword and his armor, but luckily none found their mark in his scales. He lowered the makeshift shield and watched as the woman yank out the arrow that had struck her shoulder. It looked like a somewhat deep wound, but she pulled the arrow out with no problem and dove right into an attack. Her quickness and ability to ignore pain lifted her worth a little more, but only one could survive this nightmare and it must be him. Shifting his feet Berserker prepared to thrust his blade directly into the woman's chest, but before he could another whiz of arrows reached his ears, only this time the sound was accompanied by a sharp burning in his neck. Roaring in pain he dropped the sword and stumbled back a foot before wrenching the arrow out. Warm blood spurted out and ran down his neck, but it was only the first of what was to come.

His injury made no difference on the human's trajectory and her blade struck true. Luckily he had shifted back thus saving his life, but at the cost of suffering another neck wound. This one, a long jagged slash across his scales from his spine to nearly his jugular. More blood ran down his neck and into his armor. The pain was great, but his counter was greater, the blow forced him onto his knee causing his savage mind reacted quickly against any follow-up attack. With another roar he shot his left hand out and attempted to slash the woman's knee and bring her down to his level. Whether it worked or not he didn't care, because he quickly got back to his own feet and jumped closer to his opponent. Using his right claw he would rip it across her face and head either breaking her neck from the force or blinding her with the claws and opening her up for the kill.

Spoiler: SPOILS OF WAR. READ IF YOU DARE.

(Sik, if Rose is okay with it, you can do a fatality move or something. The battle around you will begin to intensify but there is still time to get away from the heart of the battle and away from the actual fighting if you so choose. If you wantt to continue fighting then you can. Most of the enemy's will be like squishing flys with your pinky finger.)

The Berserker's claws struck true and the young woman crumpled to the ground. But it seemed death was not her fate this day. As the war game closed in around them, battle cries and death peals filled the air mingling with the whizzing of arrows. The red bandana had been ripped off in the scuffle and with it went the blue haze that compelled him to kill the human.

With the haze gone he studied the woman one final time, she was wounded, but he hadn't killed her. Simply knocked her out, Death still hissed at Berserker, trying to order the lizardman to finish her off. Luckilythough Ra-Ja had jumped back into control once the Blue of Violence was gone. The sane part of the warrior's mind demanded he do the honorable thing, spare the woman, and hope she gains the peace his victory had cost her. Another hail of arrows thudded into the bloody ground around them, looking down he noticed the blue bandana still flapping against his arm. With it his chances were slim to get out of this alive, it was then an idea struck him. Crouching down he tied the red cloth from the woman around his other arm before scooping her up in his arms.

He hefted her up and let out a soft growl.
"Come young one, you have too much promise to die here."

She was small enough compared to Berserker, so he easily cradled her into one arm and picked up her sword sheathing it across his back. Once everything was secure the battle had come within a stone's throw of the two combatants. Determined to not let harm befall one of such potential he picked up his borrowed sword and took off at a steady jog allowing his rage to win some ground for their escape. Warriors from both the Blue Army and the Red Army fell to the masterful swings of he who destroys. He did not know how they would get out, but something in the back of his mind told him they would be free.
