Shape of Water 8/10. It is essentially a love story between 2 very different people/creatures. It is tragic, emotional, hokey, funny, and down-right entertaining. It is not for everyone though. It includes scenes of homosexuality, masturbation, and torture.

    Black Panther 9/10

I would give it a 10 out of 10 but I think they made a bad decision concerning the main antagonist.

    Spoiler: Spoilers for the End

Great story, refreshing take on a conflict, amazing performances from everybody, and a soundtrack to die for. If you haven't seen it, go see it. If you have, watch it again.

    Desolation of Smaug 4.5/10

They did a major butchery to the source material by turning Smaug into a wyvern when he's specifically stated as being a dragon. Tolkien dragons are specified as having four legs and two wings, not two legs like wyverns. Additionally, the black arrow is meant to be fired by a longbow, not a ballista.

When you're doing a whole movie based off some twenty pages from a book, you'd better ace that book. I could do with more truth to the original story and less prettyboy that didn't exist in the original book managing to overpower an orc with ten times his muscle mass.

    Pacific Rim: Uprising

Very good, lots of robot baddassery, but it was kinda predictable. I knew who the heroes would be in the first few minutes and knew the politics behind many of the character choices and plot twists that were again predictable. And it bugged me the hero of the last movie got almost competly removed from the story history. Also needed more Godzilla, he would've made this my favorite movie of all time if he showed up at a few key times.

    Ready Player One 8.5/10

Don't want to include spoilers. For those of you who've read the book, they alter the challenges aspect in order to make screen time, but they include tons of other easter eggs and remain true to the original concept. Expect to see some of your favorite video games showing up to some degree, even if they're never mentioned in the book.

    Original Mad Max. 5/10

Bleak and depressing with a plot that often made little sense. Basically it just seemed to be a load of violence being shown for it's own sake. Maybe in hindsight I should have read some reviews first before watching it.

    The Hobbit (1977 animated) 3/10

It stuck to the original story from the book better than the movies which threw in Legolas and invented some elf chick from nothing just to add a female character along with the prettyboy who has no personality, but the animation is absolutely terrible and hideous to look at. Action scenes are G-rated in order to show to a six year old audience, dwarves are far more ugly than most dwarves, and the ordinarily pretty elves are the ugliest of all. Smaug has the face of a big cat, for some reason, but at least he has four legs so that he's more dragon-like than the wyvern from the newer movies. There's no mention of orcs at all, they're just called goblins because apparently they feel kids are too dumb to know what an orc is. But Bard at least fires an actual black arrow from his longbow, rather than the stupidly wrong ballista bolt from the newer movies.

    2001 : A Space Oddyssey.

    10/10

I had seen it once before, but wanted to watch it again.

A masterpiece. Even better the second time around, because you see the symbolism, allegories, and themes more clearly during a second watch. I effing love this film. Kubrick is the shit.
