A. Right off the bat, we have a battle of Music vs. Music. Quite the show it will be! I personally have no experience with Breggo's writing capabilities, but I'm quite confident in Imposter, long-time friends as we are. That said, this matchup is extremely 'what if?' based. If the Piper gets a good arena to abuse his power in, he should be able to outmaneuver the Troubadour and allow his minions to clean up. But the Troubadour's abilities are varied and rather powerful to start out with, meaning she's going to be trouble no matter what. Because of this and the fact that she has a built-in self-heal at 'Rank 1', I have to bet on the Troubadour here. Sorry, brother! Bad matchup
Still rooting for you though
B. This is an interesting matchup as well, as one of the characters is pretty much meant to dominate the other in a manner of speaking. I'm not familiar with either writer, so I'm unbiased there xD That said, I believe the Reaver owns this matchup by design. The pirate is reckless and prone to rushing in and would likely drastically underestimate this little woman before him. This basically gives the Reaver an opening immediately, which just gets more and more prominent as the fight goes on, due to her abilities.
C. Jeez, none of these matchups aren't cool and fun to think about. GOSH. This is another troubling pairing, as it could go either way depending on various aspects. At first, I would give it to the Swarm, as the Paladin simply comes with no real method of dealing with their numbers other than swinging his sword wildly. Then I think 'but can the Swarm even do anything to HIM?' He's covered in armor from head to toe. However, at the end of the day, it comes down to what the Swarm can just
do in response to the other character's attacks, defenses, etc.
D. More writers I don't know *sadness*. Ah well. This bout will come down to one thing: how effectively can the Engineer implement her second ability? Once that is answered, the rest falls into place. Justice is noted to be bound to his armor, so if that is gone, what else is left? Of course, if the technique does not neuter him completely, then Abigail is in trouble. Unless the arena gives her something she can use, the engineer is likely to be outmatched in almost every way. Because of the very hit-or-miss attribute of this, I'll have to give the fight to the Chevalier.
E. Finally, someone I know again
My other main man RedKayne heads up the Acrobat, whom I believe to have a distinct advantage in this matchup... if he plays aggressively. By his very nature, he should, which leads him easily into my pick for the match. The Alchemist gets powerful by being able to set up, which the very nature of the Acrobat should be able to counter. Even then, the Alchemists abilities don't lend too much to overcoming an orc's brutish endurance unless the arena plays into favor. Here's rooting for ya, Kayne ^.^
F. Another person I know, and for once I actually am taking writing ability into account to break this 'tie' of a matchup. The Summoner is massive and powerful and his 'pet' will be annoying, but the Duelist's nature should give her enough of an edge to get in enough hits and weaken the creature down. Of course, he should be able to outlast her stamina-wise, which is why it comes down to writing ability for this one. So this is probably the only viable bet xD
G. Bianca wins because she won't get hair in her eyes all the time. Jokes aside, though
Bianca is an interesting character that takes a 'standard' mage archetype and makes it extremely physical and close-combat oriented, at least in her primary state. She has the ability to counteract her natural 'squishy mage' status with one ability and the fact that she wears light armor, but the fact that the ability is so hindering to her ability to fight means that someone like the Ranger will easily be able to outrange and out maneuver her. If he chooses to fight
H. Any match with the Mime in it is bound to be an interesting read. And yet, I feel as though the character's innate 'reactionary only' tactic will not do him much good against the Druid. She's not a character that you can react off of very well, unless she goes offensive from the get-go. Even then, the damage was already done to you and won't do too much to her in return, given her nature *jokes*. I salute whoever pulls through in this strange matchup.
I. In this matchup, there seems to be little contest. I would be willing to bet on William's writing ability here, but as far as the warriors go, Shale is clearly superior. The Soothsayer has no method of damaging her, so unless the arena gives her something to work with, this duel will almost always go in Shale's favor. Sorry bud
J. I'm going to abstain from betting in my own fight, but by character sheets alone, I think the Monk has a slight edge. We'll see, though!
K. Two more writers I don't know, which means I'm picking blindly again! The Revanant appears to be extremely powerful and likely to be a large menace against more than half of the cast present, but unfortunately, it was paired up with one of the few things that could put it down immediately in Round 1: the Witcher. There is no doubt in my mind that the Witcher should win this match-up, so good luck to both writers in their fight ^.^
L. It's the match-up of the ages: Fighter vs. Berserker, Warrior vs. Rage-Warrior, Barbarian vs. Barbarian. This is going to be the craziest melee-fest we're going to see, and I'm psyched. I also CANNOT choose here. Hot damn, this fight could easily go either way, especially with the arena unknown. For the sake of my own conscience, I'll go with Siksta cause I love that asshole. Yeah. That'll work
M. In a straight fight, this one will easily go to the Valkyrie; this is not up for debate. The Assassin had better hope the arena that's picked for her gives her some cover, or else she'll end up rather worse for wear.
N. The Ritualist has a very powerful skillset, which could be overpower by the fact that the Archer will simply attack him every chance he gets, most likely. It's hard to give this one any clear definition, as both characters can go either way and might be drastically affected by their environments, so I'm going to give it to N for now since he still stands to me as one of the most terrifying combat RPers I know.
O. The Scavenger is certainly a possible powerhouse after a few wins, but currently, he seems very unlikely to win against an opponent as skilled as the Shapeshifter. His options are limited; hopefully he gets a favorable environment.
P. This is yet another duo that I can't get a firm grasp on how their battle is going to flow. I'm more prone to believe that the Necromancer's sleeping spell is more deadly than it should be, but I've been known to overestimate many things before
