RPA's 8th Year Celebration and Ball

It starts with a letter, appearing just like any other, a little notification in the top right side. An unread private message. It's from a staff member. Lame, you may think. Another site-wide message. But you didn't delete it. You read it. You knew this was special.

Join us in a special night unlike anything before. Put on a mask, your best dress or black tie suit, find a date, and come dance away the Eighth Year of Roleplay Adventures.

See, your staff is rolling out the red carpets and acting as hosts for a party that won't be topped for another year to come. We've brought out the contests, from perfect traditionally drawn couples portrait art contest,, to a mysterious set contest, and a favorite, the masquerade dress up.

The best of our week long party is your black ticket into the Shimmering Ball Room. Find the guest list (OOC) here and the doors open to the event soon.

Once you saw your ticket, you vanished. You stopped sitting in front of your laptop, glancing at your phone, where ever you were, and whatever you were doing, you simply weren't there anymore. You were, instead, dressed in the best outfit you could have dreamed of, your face hidden behind a mask that was as perfectly you as could be. Surrounding you are the members of RPA, all plucked from their screens and brought to my party.

In just a few moments, the doors to the Shimmering Ballroom will open. Do you have your partner?

This will be a week long short-RP, hosted by yours truly. There is a small story, to be revealed, and you, the members, are the most treasured guests. You've been dressed perfectly, and you're ready to dance. If you choose to attend with a date, make sure that you match.

~ You cannot harm another character without their acknowledgment. There will be no character death in this RP.

~ Please do not attempt to derail or create your own spin-off stories. Adventuring and getting to know other characters is perfect, but understand there is a plot line and we will be moving through it. If I feel you are going off track, I will PM you.

~ You must post at least once every 24 hours or at least six of the seven days to get RPA8 Badge. The posts will be tracked by earning *'s in the second post of the OOC. Please PM me if you feel I have missed you or made a mistake.

POSTING RULES:
To keep posting rate controlled with 40+ members in one thread of RP, there will be several posting guidelines that will be enforced. This are not strict rules, as I want to leave flexibility, but I will notify you if I believe that you are either behind or posting too much.

~ Post about 3-5 times in a 24 hour period. Some days you might only need to post once or twice. Some days (there will be certain days your character simply must post more), you can post as needed. If you are posting more than ten times a day, you are posting too much for this thread. One post, is also more than enough for those who cannot do more.

~ If at least five to six other different people (at least a page's worth) have not replied, you should not post again. Give other people time to reply.

~ CO-POST. If you are trying to start a conversation with one person or a small group, please co-post with your fellow members. This allows for more small talk without cluttering our large thread.

I am GM of this RP, and do have final say on most matters. Please come to me with ANY questions. I try my best to be available any time.

I do monitor the chat thread and try to read every post, but if you must know something, PM is the best way to make sure I read it. Please do not post in OOC unless there is truly a need to.

Appearance: 6', 170 lbs (~1.82 meters, ~77.1 kgs for you lot on the metric system). Clean shaven with fair skin, straight nose, white teeth, strong jawline, piercing gray/blue/green eyes (depending on the lighting), ~N~ possesses an athletic build, appearing to be in his late 20's by most accounts, while his real age is hinted at by the strands of silver nestled in his long healthy brown hair that hangs down to his shoulders which also appears slightly blonde and red in the sunlight, and the faint crow's feet that appear when he smiles around his eyes. He carries himself with a presence that makes him seem taller and more imposing than he actually is.

Outfit: Being a fan of deception and illusion, ~N~ couldn't possibly attend the masque in just any conventional costume. Donning a Victorian style coat that regally swept down to his knees, embroidered with shifting shadows upon its rich gray velvet with black satin on the inside, long thick lapels, tapering to a point in the back. Perfectly tailored smoky gray slacks and shining black wingtips complimented the coat, while a matching satin black vest, inlaid with ghostly images that shifted as though they were alive, wrapped around a fine linen shirt with exacting precision to his form. Above the vest, ~N~'s top buttons remained parted and open, flagrantly eschewing formality to put on display that fascinating stretch of unblemished skin from the collarbone to the neck. His hair was tied back and concealed beneath his mask into a low ponytail, which hung down below his mask.

The mask appeared to be made of a layer of snakeskin that seemed to move around his eyes before slipping back into a full headpiece that slithered and writhed with serpents marked in patterns and colors as varied as the entire species of serpents on earth, twining around each other; twisting and looping with hypnotic movements that mesmerized any who attempted to follow their slowly coiling forms into an Escher-like ensemble of illogical endings and beginnings. The enigmatic flows of coils and scales seemed to slide back and down, tying together in the back, while a few "loose ends" occasionally rose from the shifting mass to flick their tongues and taste the world before sinking again into the twisting mass. One could not be sure if the serpents were real but the barest whisper of hissing could be heard from the coils that made up the headpiece.

A pale champagne chiffon timeless dress, longer than her in heels, just loose enough to swirl and dance beside her and just fitting enough to leave hints of the form underneath. It shines with a small gold in the right light. The form-fitting top is designed with dark and light diamonds, swirled and beaded in intricate designs.



Matching designs decorate the mask. Picture this, just slightly less gold and more a silvery-gold. Delicate curves line perfectly on her face without a string.
